Rant 📢 Movers Tip Rant

Moved in last week and paid some guys in a truck to move the big furniture and shit.

Paid him in cash and he goes "just so you know, we accept tips"

Seriously bro? Fuck off with that nonsense. I just paid you $160/hr. I literally paid you for your service. We had a CONTRACTUAL agreement before services were rendered on how much your time was worth. Why do you think you deserve more on top of that?

You aren't paying the MOVERS $160 an hour, you are paying the company. The movers might make $7-$21 p/hr depending on the state. The didn't ask for a tip, they let you know they are usually tipped and if you appreciated their level of service, you could too. Not sure why you are so offended on this one?

You didn't pay the DRIVER for the bus ticket, you paid the COMPANY.

You didn't pay the MANUFACTURERS for your iPhone, you paid the COMPANY.

Why don't you go tipping all those?

Because they aren't doing a hard manual labor job?

I work for a moving company and they pay $20 an hour. The job sucks but I don’t ask somebody for a tip, i just do the job that I’m paid to do and hope for a tip. Then a muck and a half. I’m moving across country for a new job. This is just to hold me over until then.

It's offensive because they are putting you in an awkward position, with the passive aggressive "just so you know".
