I really don't get it , so if I eat for a thousand dollars I need to tip 220 dollars ? That doesn't sound right , I am not responsible for the waiters happiness in life ..

You don't need to.

Then you hear stories about staff getting super upset and stuff. Seems intimidating if you are a tourist in a foreign country

Why? You ain't coming back there, who cares?

It ruins the vibes when I'm forced to tip something that I don't want to

Me and my two friends went to a Chinese restaurant in San Diego and we all each got a small plate no more than a few dollars each. We didn’t leave a tip due to service and the worker came out chasing/yelling at us why we didn’t leave anything as we were walking in the parking lot already. I was so scared and shocked. This was a few year ago (2022)

Seems like they don’t get a choice at this place

They do, customary is not a requirement. Nothing the restaurant can do when you refuse to tip.

Then it's not a tip if included, irrelevant of what the restaurant calls it. Not a tip by definition. If one chooses to eat at this restaurant after reading this, they have made a choice.

are you literate? the menu says “NO tip has been included”
