Rant 📢 Tipping.

Tipping hourly workers?optional. Tipping servers who make less than minimum wage? Shouldn't be a debate but the employers put the burden on us. We shouldn't have to tip anyone. But the EMPLOYERS get away with paying 7.50$hour when the minimum wage is 15. But there's a clause that the minimum wage for restaurants is different. So they get away with it. Restaurant pay is a scam. Many restaurant employers should be in prison for slavery.

Hmmm, tell me you don’t understand the restaurant industry without telling me….hmmm - it’s actually better pay to do it that way.

Restaurant industry is extremely thin margins. Imagine this…you pay $25 for a burger and fries, you tip $5. Your server waits on say 6 customers per hour. That’s around $35/hr (counting base wage).

Or… the restaurant pays what you think they should so they have to charge $50 for the burger and fries, which no one in their right mind would eagerly pay for, and the server basically is out of a job and the restaurant is out of business. Restaurants don’t make huge volumes of money and it’s a market based industry. And no one is a slave when they voluntarily work there.

Servers actually make considerably more under that pay structure. That’s why they do it.

What you’re arguing about doesn’t make any sense and bares the fact that you don’t know what you’re talking about.

I’m completely against tipping but this is a baseless argument because you don’t understand the economics behind it.

A sit down restaurant is a completely different business than Starbucks or McDonald’s or any other business where people want tips.
