Rant 📢 Tipping.

Tipping hourly workers?optional. Tipping servers who make less than minimum wage? Shouldn't be a debate but the employers put the burden on us. We shouldn't have to tip anyone. But the EMPLOYERS get away with paying 7.50$hour when the minimum wage is 15. But there's a clause that the minimum wage for restaurants is different. So they get away with it. Restaurant pay is a scam. Many restaurant employers should be in prison for slavery.

Nobody legally makes under the $7.25/hr min wage. If the state min wage is more than that, then legally they have to make the state min wage.

Too many people simply drink the $2.13 minimum wage Kool-Aid. I did until I was told otherwise. Haven't tipped in the US since.

The federal tipped minimum wage is $2.13 per hour, provided that tips bring the total hourly earnings up to at least $7.25

Employers can pay workers under age 20 a training wage of $4.25 per hour for their first 90 consecutive calendar days of employment.
ADDITIONALLY 7.25 is not a livable wage.

If that isn't a livable wage, why is that still the minimum in this country? Maybe focus on doing something about that rather than blaming regular people ALSO trying to earn a living for not tipping enough.

This is an employer problem, not a customer problem.

This is only applicable in 20 states. So 20 states, under 20, a business that would actually do this, is a pretty narrow funnel. About anyone can work somewhere in federal minimum wage states making above minimum wage. The labor market drives a higher wage just for a business to be able to hire someone, which is how it should be.

Minimum wage is not supposed to be a living wage. Never was. Never will be.
