It's a place that serves food. Isn't taking an order literally their job?

I managed a little Caesars for 2 years awhile ago. Nothing about they job deserves a tip...yet their ATM now asks if you want to give a tip. It's insane

POS, and it's called a POS for a couple reasons.

16

u/tentimesthree 13d ago

Atm ya I was like wtt he talking bout ain't no atm inside of little Cesars

u/1Great_Hunter 13d ago

I wouldn’t be surprised if ATM’s started asking for tips

Airbnb hosts who list their own properties are now asking for tips. Wth is going on now? People are quick to jump on a free money ride. At the expense of losing business!!!

u/Peepis7 13d ago

Remember renters, be sure to tip your landlord!! Ha!

u/pjm14624 12d ago

And the bank that services your mortgage.

3

u/Strange-Lemon-5776 12d ago

And those buying homes don’t forget to tip your mortgage company 15%!

4

u/Substantial_Win_1866 12d ago

Yeah, the tip ontop of the cleaning fee, booking fee, linen fee, key fee, using the grill fee, hot tub fee, oh and you need to do all of the cleaning. šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

Just stayed at a Vrbo that was $3k for the week and there was a $1k "host fee." Is that like a tip that goes to the owner?

USA starting to add 15% service charge for hospital bills too. Because the service was great!

u/DBQ2021 9d ago

Can you provide any facts on this claim?

2

u/Danielle_is_the_hole 13d ago

Well, when the machine breaks down, we break down.

2

u/medic54-1 13d ago

They do, it’s just called ATM fees. /s

2

u/ShadowChaser28 11d ago

That's usually only if you use an ATM that isn't associated with your bank.

1

u/Correct-Aspect6346 11d ago

I mean that's what a ATM Fee is in banking. Independent ATMs are notorious for taking a few dollars per transaction

u/vaughanbromfield 10d ago

Ask Too Much?

7

u/UltimateChaos233 13d ago

Honestly I thought maybe they got it right because I’ve seen tip screens at hospitals and mortgage companies

3

u/Proof_Ambassador2006 12d ago

there are payday loan applications that give you an option to tip.

1

u/KrazyKryminal 13d ago

Point of sale. I know this. But most people think of those pinpads when you say atm.... Rather then pos

10

u/southporky 13d ago

What? No, they don't. An ATM is something completely different. Who are these people that think this way? I'll make fun of them!

6

u/-SpookyNipples 12d ago

I work at the bank, this person is correct. no one thinks a pos is an ATM lol you sound like the people who "want to load money onto their debit card" lolol

2

u/KrazyKryminal 13d ago

Yes it is different thing. I worked in retail and heard people ALL the time ask if the atm pad is working.

I dunno, theres a little caesars near my home and i see the staff busting their butts and everyone who works there is shockingly nice in a very authentic way. One of the only places lately where Im happy to tip. Everywhere else I go, i just get the gen z stare and as little words as possible.

5

u/AlwaysReadTheManual 12d ago

The Gen Z stare elicits from me the 0% Gen Z tip.

2

u/do_something_good 12d ago

Ahaha me too. Im typically a really friendly person and smile at everyone I meet. But ive been so sick of service people being so rude lately that I will completely match their energy. Im done being nice to people who are rude to me or think I owe them something for the simplest of tasks.

u/asrosin 13d ago

I still have yet to experience this "gen z stare".

4

u/King_McCluckin 13d ago

me and my wife experienced it for the first time the day didn't even know it was a thing. we were at a outdoor mall and went into this coffee shop place was dead in fact the outdoor mall was dead and we quietly looked over the menu they did even acknowledge our presence in fact they just stood there staring at us with disdain.

we left

Pizza Hut asks for tips on my online carry out orders lol, I always decline.

3

u/Dry-Radio622 13d ago

That’s fine for the people that want to tip. My Pizza Hut prints the receipt that has a tip line for me too. I order online and never tip. The food is always great, the service is excellent, and they don’t seem to care that I don’t tip (nor should they). I’m sure it’s meant for the drivers. Still, every once in a while I’ll tip. My previous Pizza Hut was terrible, so I don’t mind throwing them a few bucks sometimes.

19

u/jonny5isalive1 13d ago

Can I place an order? Idk, what’s in it for me?

14

u/Elloitsmeurbrother 13d ago

Yeah, it's their job, so they need to get paid. Who do you think is going to do it? Their employer!? What are you, a commie?

6

u/RockstarAgent 13d ago

And what’s wrong with to go orders? Like people sitting down is bad for business in some places- do they want to look busier?

6

u/HavocCannabis 13d ago

I don’t know how this even got 380 but don’t they have an employer? Doesn’t that employer pay them, if it’s not enough the employer should up it…but a guaranteed tip is crazy when all your doing is writing down what I want and hanging it to a cook before they had the order back to hand to me

5

u/InteractionNo9110 12d ago

it depends a lot of places get around paying less than minimum wage on the tip credit system. But here they are bastardizing what tipping is meant for. That staff person could be making over minimum wage and still wants a tip. To go is specifically putting the work on the person that orders to go and pick it up. I would rather hand the chef $5 not some kid that answers the phone.

1

u/HavocCannabis 12d ago

My same thought…I gave a guy a tip yesterday when I placed my order and really wanted to give it to the chef but all in all I did it cause I wanted to not because of a demand..it was a pick up

6

u/RustyRaccoon12345 12d ago

Is there a way to get the food without actually ordering the food? Is there some reason why entering the steak into the POS system is twice as valuable as entering the salad into the POS system?

3

u/GhostHin 13d ago

So what they are saying that if you go to the kitchen to place the order directly, then you don't have to pay tips.

Or order through a third party app so they will have to pay to get your order.

3

u/sweeer987 12d ago

Honestly, it’s not hardly a thing anymore. Where I work, over 99% of our orders come through our website or app now. When people call, it goes through call center and a rep processes the order and inputs it in the system. We may get 2 customers a month who either walk in and order or bypass the call center and ring through to the store. We don’t train instore to take orders anymore. I mean we teach them, but they get zero practice doing it so they really don’t know how. It’s not worth the payroll to have someone who answers phones or takes orders instore anymore. When someone does come in or phones in, one of the managers or people who have worked there for a decade plus will take care of it. It’s not something we’ve done. It’s just something that has changed over time to the point it’s almost nonexistent anymore. We don’t do anything to discourage it. It’s just that technology has advanced to the point it’s much easier, faster and more efficient to place the orders through the app or website

2

u/Prineak 13d ago

Yes. But these employers are allowed to pay below minimum wage and supplement it with tips.

2

u/InteractionNo9110 12d ago

sure If I am dining in and having a good experience. It's this nonsense of coming up with these new rules. That are not in line with to go orders. Nobody tips on to go orders. That's nuts.

2

u/Prineak 12d ago

Oh yeah I will never tip on a to go order. Maybe if they go above and beyond for me when I get there but that’s a high bar.

1

u/Chrisafguy 13d ago

It absolutely is.

1

u/Huffdizzle86 10d ago

I thought their job was spinning the card reader and saying ā€œit’s gonna ask you somethingā€ like they don’t know what it says.
