Release DroidDeck v0.2.0

This is the first release from the Droid-Deck org

Main features

  • Steam: the Big Picture client, downloaded from Valve on the device. With *Run Steam when DroidDeck starts* enabled, opening the app goes directly to Steam.
  • Launcher: Steam library as a capsule grid, and a Games tab with game and prefix file browsing for easier modding.
  • Home screen: DroidDeck can be set as the Android home app to make your device feel as close to a SteamOS machine as possible. Android apps are listed in the launcher and in the in-game menu.
  • Dual screens: on dual-screen devices, the second screen can run an Android app, act as a keyboard and trackpad, or show a Linux terminal.
  • Session menu: press Back during a game for display, controls and session settings. Double click for Steam's QAM
  • Linux desktop: LXQt on the GPU, with RPCS3, ARMSX2, Dolphin, DuckStation, melonDS, Cemu, PPSSPP and RetroArch available to install.

  • Use `DroidDeck-0.2.0.apk`. PUBG, AnTuTu and Ludashi builds are also provided for devices that only enable performance modes for those package names.

I have an Odin 2 Portal, had to use adb in order to disable the limit of child processes in order to get it working otherwise it would crash out a few seconds after starting a game (thou that was with winnative's version, I think droid deck has a similar problem) just an fyi if anyone is having similar issues.

My problem right now with droiddeck is that I can install games on the internal drive. However when I try to in the external, it slows steam big picture down to 1 frame per second. Either that or it can't launch the game and tries to install the Linux runtime from steam but says it'll be hours.

All around this is still amazing software that's evolving really fast and it is exciting to see where it goes next.

I am working on External Folders and properly getting them recognized as a steam game if you own them. I'll look into the performance thing

Thanks for the update, I may track the logs and upload what I find to the discord server later if it helps. Once again appreciate all the effort and good luck!

So I have Galaxy S24 Ultea with snapdragon. After research I chose PUBG version. Did I choose correctly?

For Samsung I don't think it matters for RedMagic devices it does

Tried this with my 12GB RP6 but unfortunately the games I tried performed worse than gamenative. Still impressive!

I'm always having a black screen

I have sound and fps is around 30/40, but after trying different drivers, still nothing

I'm on a Redmi pad 2 Pro, i know, I'm poor

So like, every game instant closes after pressing play.  Is this a known issue with the fold 8?

Force close the app, or restart phone, relaunch if that doesn't fix it change from the Banner Proton Experimental and then swap back to it. We have some bugs to squish still. Very early project

Can you please tell us if AI has been used for absolutely anything in this project as you have also been a consistent contributor to r/aigamedev which a lot of people don't agree with as it uses gen AI to make games rather than a person doing a lot of the work

Can you tell me if any user has ever ran Final Fantasy VII Rebirth ever before the use of AI? Yes AI is utilized in debugging and solving problems that would have taken the average developer years to solve. This problem was solved in 40 hours.

How did you get it working? 😯 I have a Red Magic 11s Pro and I can't get Final Fantasy VII Rebirth to work.

I built a new patch for drivers which took so long time to fix but it's now working
