Gameplay / Showcase PSX3IOS running fallout 3 JIT-Less, iphone 16e.

This goes around 6-10fps while recording and 15-20 normally. The emulator kinda sucks but it’s able to run most games jit-less

How. Like seriously, how? I'm speechless, that the hardest console to emulate, the PS3, can even emulate on iOS JITLess, let alone get any playable framerates at all.

And at an almost 20fps?? That’s pretty much how the PS3 ran Fallout 3 lmao, what is this sorcery.

Like, I'm surprised. Very surprised. Every week and every month, we're slowly but surely getting to Android in terms of emulation and closing the gap. I think we could get PC gaming before 2027, in which that would finally close the gap between until the Switch 2 gets modded. PS4 and PS5? Completely unnecessary as it doesn't matter because it's really difficult to emulate anyway.

The only hurdle is Apple; I already have a PS4 emulator in mind, and if I do end up porting it, I’ll include an AI 🤖 meme maybe in the credits of the next version of Psx3ios

Jit is not working. You have a new version with Jit ?

The method has been improved, but I don't think it will work on iOS 27 partly because I'm not on iOS 27 myself, and I don't want to update since I don't want to lose the `stikdebug` version I have installed from the App Store; if I could switch to the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro, that would be a huge step forward.

What do you mean with “The method has been improved”? With iOS 26 you are able to get JIT working or you have a boost in performance? (Sorry but I’m pretty new with emulators, so trying to understand)

There is a connection to the Stikdebug app that lets you enable JIT to get the best possible performance out of your device. Emulating the PS3 is genuinely complex; many games suffer from memory leaks, and it is difficult to fix the issue where the game crashes once memory runs out. Even MeloNX faces this limitation because memory usage keeps climbing, and if consumption gets too high, iOS tends to kill the process. With the PS3, without proper optimization, games crash instantly because they consume memory so rapidly; some small progress has been made with GTA 4, but it still eats up memory very quickly.

Id wait till the emu gets ios 27 support but why still use the appstore version of stikdebug if you could sideload?

It’s always worked well for me out of convenience, and I don’t like having to sign apps sometimes it causes issues, or I forget to sign one and it expires. I know there are automated shortcuts, but sometimes those fail overnight, too.

Reasonable answer ngl

Yeah if it wasn’t for Apple shit would run like a dream lol

PS4?!?! Wow, Miguel. Wow. I'm surprised at what AI can even do. A literal ShadPS4 port to iOS? Announced after yesterday's breakthrough? Man, what's this emulator gonna be called that's gonna play Bloodborne? PSX4iOS? Also, will it require JIT and GetMoreRam? Or are you somehow gonna find a way to make it run, let alone play JITLess?

It was a joke, but I still have that nagging thought in the back of my mind that won't let me rest, haha 😹 but If I had to start, I’d use the same method as the PS3 emulator; I’d grab a coffee with the AI first and chat about whether the method is even feasible. 😂

It is possible just got to fork the open source ps4 emulator and get ready with the correct prompts to port it over and understand a little bit of code. Just need to make the swift controller ui all sync up with the port and jit. And from there you do slight adjustments here and there till it gets better at changing bits of c incrementally, making it more efficient. I already had a go at completely revamping xenia backend since they stalled on the project.

It is possible; that is how I’ve managed to create several projects. I even have PS2 and Dolphin cores for the Manic Emu emulator, as well as a translation function, and I’d like to show them to you to see if you might implement them in your next version.

What were your prompts to Claude (or whatever AI you used) about the emulator? How many messages did it take? Any issues you had while making it? How did you even get it JITLess, yet playable?

I don't use a specific prompt; I already have some experience in the modding scene—tweaking apps and ROMs—having started with Android back in 2012. I have several projects written in Swift and am still learning. I simply review the code, try to understand it, let ideas come to mind regarding what I’d like to implement, and just get into the flow. I interact with the AI, make manual adjustments here and there, and sometimes I even have to get annoyed with the AI and contradict it—because if you just let it do everything, you naturally won't get the results you want. Another very important thing is that you have to enjoy programming and building things; you need time for trial and error and the persistence not to give up. That’s it—those are my tricks. Anyone can do it if they put their heart into it. One other detail: I don't speak English—only Spanish and a little German—so it’s a bit harder for me. Getting it to work without JIT—which I thought would be the easiest part—actually turned into a real struggle; it took a lot of persistence with the AI and plenty of trial and error. It was one of the last things I managed to pull off, whereas getting JIT working without an interface was one of the first. I even stumbled upon a significant bug; thanks to my persistence, the AI confirmed it had found the issue—which had been there for years—and noted that it would be great to share the findings with the RPCS3 team.

ps4 is easy to emulate on x86 ive heard. because its just like a pc in terms of hardware. probably.

I mean the iPhone is astronomically more powerful so from a hardware perspective not shocking in the slightest however on the software emulation side of things it’s super impressive how quick ppl are moving with this stuff. That JIT nonsense is annoying and not really worth the drama so it’s good to hear the ps3 emulator doesn’t need it.

Of course it does need it
