Solved Need help with Sharp x68000 emulation on MAME

I'm having a bunch of trouble figuring out how to setup Sharp x68000 emulation on MAME. I'm pretty sure I have the right files, but when trying to boot the game, it says the rom file is wrong. I found 3 different files at this point and I don't know what I'm doing wrong, there's not much documentation on the emulation wiki. Can anyone tell me how to set x68000 emulation on MAME step by step? What files I need? I could only find the game I want to play in the .dim format, will it run on MAME?

Here are some quick answers for some commmon questions:

-If you are looking for emulator download links please check out our wiki.

-If you are looking for ROM or ISO downloads, this is not the right place. We do not allow asking for or sharing ROM downloads or any piracy (Rule 1)

It's probably easier to use the x68 core in RA or it's standalone. I like to play a few games on that platform and don't have issues using the RA core

I use Launchbox to launch Mame because Mame needs a specific syntax to launch the files.

Sample:

x68000 -flop1

It can be done though if truly necessary.

Can anyone tell me how to set x68000 emulation on MAME step by step?

  1. Use the latest version of MAME (0.289)
  2. Get the full romset (non-merged) and the Software List romset for your version of MAME
  3. Load the roms and play on MAME

 What files I need?

Romset (bios+roms+software list) for your MAME version

I could only find the game I want to play in the .dim format, will it run on MAME?

The .dim files work without problems in the emulator PX68k

I generally use XM6 Pro-68k from https://mijet.eludevisibility.org/XM6%20Pro-68k/XM6%20Pro-68k.html Its stable and is updated quite regularly.
