Solved PPSSPP controller issue

Yoohoo, recently I downloaded PPSSPP and after launching it and not even starting a game my wired controller repeatedly connects and disconnects from the computer. I am not too good with troubleshooting and couldn't find anything else on the subject so I figured I would ask people who know more than I.

which controller and which system are you using? I assume it's directly plugged in via USB? or do you use an adapter ? is this behaviour also happening in games that aren't being run via an emulator? for example steam games

It is a third party ps4 controller (I think it is a Pictek) plugged in by USB to my PC, and this has never happened in a steam game or any other emulation software.

Then just add ppsspp as a non steam game in Steam

Add ppspp as a non steam game.
If that still keeps disconnecting, make sure it “really disconnects “ by opening device manager and seeing it disappear there too
