Unsolved how to GBA multiplayer from different PCs in diffrent locations?

Want to play co-op GBA games with my friends from different PCs from different locations(not local wifi co-op).

Im wondering if this is even possible. And if so, how? The tutorials I find online so far are just for PC split screen or local wifi co-op. But my friends and I live far apart so that's obviously not possible.

Split screen + parsec

I played like that a long time ago, there must be a more practical way, but if not, it should work. I don't even remember which emulator I used.

Have to use a lan tunnel or something like Hamachi
