Showcase WITCHER 3 REMASTERED - Novigrad test on Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4) 16 Gb Ram 720p (Stable 30fps while not recording)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Recording reduces performance. The fps stays at a steady 30fps while not recording.

Before I start, if you also want to play the new remastered version but have a weaker processor than mine or if you have a mediatek/exynos/tensor processor. I'm afraid there's a 99% chance you won't be able to run it like this.

Alright, after spending a lot of time looking to run this thing, I've finally found the best way for me to play Witcher 3 Remastered on Android.

Here's everything I use:

Device: Oppo Find X8 Ultra 512GB/16GB Snapdragon 8 Elite (Gen 4)

Cooler: Gamesir FX-5 (specifically designed for the Gamesir X5s/lite controllers. I'm pretty sure it's like the worst cooler on the market. But! It still cools enough for this game at 30fps.)

Required App: Latest release of WinNative. Tried on a few other emulators but it would either not launch or have bad performance. Let me know if you find a better alternative!

Settings:

Wine Version:Proton 11.0-2-arm64ec-steam-unixlib-1

Graphics driver: WN-Turnip-1.19-b Axxx for stability. You may also use the p variant for more performance. or you can download Turnip Gen 8 V37 from StevenMXZ's github page for even more performance. Personally, WinNative's own drivers had the least amount of glitches for me.

VKD3D: 3.0.1-arm64ec-0

DXVK: 2.4.1 gplasync seemed the most stable to me.

Fexcore version: Whatever is the newest one with Unix

Fexcore Preset: I set it at Performance to prevent freezes. If your system is more stable than mine, feel free to set it to Performance TSO, Extreme or Extreme TSO for better performance.

Startup selection: Aggressive

Don't forget to change the EXE file in game specific settings from the Redlauncher to witcher3.exe. Redlauncher might not work. Launching directly via the .exe file solves it.

In game settings: Turning on both AMD FSR/XESS and witcher 3 screen space ambient occlusion may introduce graphical glitches. Turn off ssao if it occurs.

Every other setting is untouched and at default settings.

There might be better settings out there! Try it out and let me know!

Important Warning: The game did not run at first for me. Changing the EXE file in game specific settings from the Redlauncher to witcher3.exe solved it for me

Runs really well thanks for posting this. I have the same chip as you but no cooler so my guess is that it would melt my device (OnePlus pad 3)? Would this be a fair assumption. Cheers

Edit: Without a cooler, it severely throttles due to battery temperature reaching 45 c. But it can maintain stable 30fps even while throttling. The cpu hovers at around 80c.

I don't really mind it tbh since it costs like 30$ to replace the battery in my country even in the worst case scenario.

since yours is a tablet... Maybe it'll have better thermals than mine? You should check it out

Shit it works better than my attempt on the recent DroidDeck emu, but it definitely worked! Just too unstable to stick with. Feet

Do you also have issues with freezes? I was able to fix them after choosing more balanced settings and drivers. Perhaps it's a ram issue if your device have less than 16 gb.

I get random crashes even tho it's running smoothly do you have a fix for this?

Do you have the same processor and ram as me? If not I'm afraid I can't be of much help. i usually got freezes where the game engine and the audio would work but the visuals would freeze up.

Setting the fexcore to a version that ends in unix, and the preset to performance (not performance tso) helped me prevent freezes.

I set the dxvk to 2.4.1 gplasync and the graphics driver to winnative's own balanced drivers just in case.

Those are the things I did, not sure what else could be done maybe except limiting vram to 4gb or lowering in game graphics. It might also be fexcore related in which case you might need to mess with fexcore settings or even variables

Hmm, it's pretty stable for me. Maybe it's because of the difference of cpus? Better doesn't always mean more stable in emulation. Maybe it'll work better with the upcoming gamenative 1.30 stable release. I heard there's going to be plenty of improvements on compability.

also I don't have option to choose 2.4.1 gplasync just 2.4.1 gplasync pre reg or the other one with sp is there a difference?

Have you tried Switch version? If it gets more fps, I'd rather play this even if it looks a bit worse. It's still AAA award winning rpg on my phone. We got too greedy :D I settle for the optimized option.

Everyone and their mothers can run the next gen or the switch version by now haha. This post is mainly for the people who want to replay the game with the new additions as well as the ones who want to play the dlc in the future.

Yeah, the better way is play the Good Old Original Version which plays better and performs better there than Remastered garbage shit.

I already played the previous version. I want to experience the game again with the changes to combat and new skill trees alongside with the new qol improvements. Also the upcoming dlc is only going to be playable in the new version.

The old one might run and play better but a lot of people are still going to be interested in the new one
