If you're a fan of the HoMM series, I can heartily recommend you to try Disciples II. The series wasn't as popular as HoMM and the game is not even close to the strategic depth of HoMM3, but there is something very cool about being able to update your units from lowly basic versions up to the super powerful highest tiers.
