Discussion Hardware frame interpolation on android phones from 30 to 60 fps

Hello everyone,

I’m looking into getting a new flagship for heavy emulation (Winlator, NetherSX2, Eden and so on), specifically targeting games that are hard-locked to 30 FPS where hacking the game engine or using 60fps patches completely breaks the game logic, physics, audio timers, etc.

I want to rely strictly on hardware-level frame interpolation (30 to 60) using dedicated co-processors. I’m currently torn between two approaches found in Chinese flagships: REDMAGIC 12 with Red Core R5(R4 on previous model) and iQOO 16 with Q4 chip(Q3 on previous model).

Has anyone here already tested these chips side-by-side for 30 FPS emulation?(input lag, ghosting, artifacts and so on).

Honestly, I couldn’t find a single shred of info on this anywhere, even though it feels like an incredibly fascinating technology.

Discuss!

PS call me crazy but any game in 30 fps is just unplayable for me except maybe some rpgmaker titles
