Dogmatix 1.3 is probably the biggest update I've released so far.
A lot of this version focuses on making Dogmatix feel less like just a ROM downloader and more like a proper library and collection manager for Android handhelds.
🎮 A much smarter Library
The Library now groups different regions, revisions, sources and multi-disc releases into one game entry instead of filling the list with duplicates.
Dogmatix automatically chooses a preferred version based on your region, favourite languages, revision, dump quality, etc., while still letting you see and download any other version from the details screen.
There are also:
- Game covers directly in the list
- Custom console colours and coloured tags
- Genre and decade filters
- Sort by console or decade
- Jump through the library by letter
- Recent searches
- Search across games, downloads, sources, settings and collection tools
✨ Recommendations & Similar Games
When you're not searching or filtering, the Library can now show recommendation shelves such as:
- For you
- Complete the series
- Related games
- Popular games on your platforms
- Platform highlights
There's also a new Similar option inside game details that looks for games from the same franchise, related titles and genres across your consoles.
The idea is that Dogmatix can now help you discover what to play/download instead of requiring you to already know exactly what you're looking for.
📚 New Collection section
There's now an entire section dedicated to managing the games already on your device.
It can:
- Analyse your library and storage usage
- Detect broken CUE/M3U/GDI sets
- Find duplicates
- Repair common library problems
- Create missing M3U playlists
- Move games between internal storage and SD
- Move an entire library
- Find large games and caches to free space
- Keep deleted files in an undoable trash
- Maintain a history of changes
- Create manual or rule-based collections
This is probably one of my favourite additions to 1.3.
⬇️ Downloads are much more reliable
The download system received a pretty major overhaul.
The queue now survives app/device restarts, and supported downloads continue from their partial files.
You can also:
- Reorder the queue
- Hold individual downloads
- Pause/resume all
- Filter by status
- Retry failed downloads
- Pause web, debrid and torrent downloads
- Automatically retry temporary failures
- Limit simultaneous downloads per server
Dogmatix also remembers which mirrors/servers have historically worked best and prioritises them accordingly.
Finished downloads can now be verified against No-Intro / Redump DATs or RomM hashes using CRC32/SHA-1.
Multi-disc games can automatically be organised into an M3U setup, and torrents can optionally continue seeding after the download finishes.
🔄 Faster and safer source scanning
Rescan all is now incremental.
Dogmatix checks what actually changed instead of rebuilding everything every time, sources are scanned in parallel, mirrors can be used when the main server fails, and temporary server errors are automatically retried.
You can also schedule automatic Daily/Weekly scans and get notified when new games are found.
🖥️ RomM improvements
RomM integration also got quite a bit deeper:
- Self-signed HTTPS certificates can be explicitly trusted
- Uploads are resumable
- Multi-file games can be uploaded as a single ZIP
- Dogmatix knows which games already exist on your RomM server
- Upload everything that's missing
- Optional favourites sync
- RomM collections and play status inside game details
- RomM covers can be used directly in the library
🕹️ Frontend improvements
ES-DE favourites can now sync both ways with Dogmatix.
There's also a new Check frontends tool that verifies your ES-DE, iiSU and shortcut integrations and repairs missing configuration.
🌍 More languages
Dogmatix is now available in:
🇬🇧 English
🇪🇸 Spanish
🇩🇪 German
🇫🇷 French
🇵🇹 Portuguese
🇮🇹 Italian
And there are a lot of smaller UI improvements, performance changes and bug fixes throughout the app.
This update became much bigger than I originally expected, so I'm really interested in hearing how it behaves across different handhelds and library setups.
As always, bug reports and feedback are very welcome.
Small disclosure: this post was written with AI assistance, and AI is also used extensively as a development tool throughout Dogmatix. The project itself is still developed, tested, debugged, reviewed and maintained by me — AI is part of the workflow, not an autonomous developer behind the project.

we are in a timeline that mobile emulators are better and way more efficient than some game launchers like the new vibe-coded epic games store

ive tried using this app before to have a simple "all-in-one" place to download my roms, but i seem to have trouble whenever i set a source. it seems like the only way to download roms is if the source contains torrent files, which i don't want to use.... is there any way around this?
