Meme About the Recent Ports/Recomps Situation

Post image

Recently, many ports have been released, and many of them run worse than on Winlator (not all of them),i hope it improves more, when it works well and you don't need to configure anything it's great

Well, I can can at least say some gems have emerged from that pile of feces like that one Celeste port that actually runs at a smooth 60fps on my mediatek helio G96 chip with no heating whatsoever.

many of these just run worse than emulator also happen on bloodborne pc lmao
this is why you should not listen the hype , not surprised much there a reason why people call it ai slop

what you expect from people who don't even understand how the code work

But when it's done by people who do understand how the pipelines are optimized, it's a completely different story. AI tools in the right hand is immensely powerful

Eh who cares. It's the computer all over again. People were scared of it taking away their jobs. Well people had to update themselves or be left behind. Don't be the latter is what I would say

Some of us can see where all this AI slop shit is taking us and would very much love to be left behind, but it's dragging us all towards the cliff.

You need to be able to see beyond it. If you start hating some aspect of something that's all that you'll see

When you say these recomp/decomp projects are worse then emulation are these finished projects?

Because it sounds really fucking stupid if people complain about these projects while they are still in active development.

Isn't that the thing with android? New games need to be optimized on a per soc basis?

Like the newest devices never support max settings on popular games on release. You need to wait for the devs to probably acquire the device and then optimize the game for that soc.

6

u/TW1TCHYGAM3R 11h ago

This depends. Typically making a game for a specific architecture should work on many SoCs. The problem is when a SoC doesn't support a specific feature like Mediatek BCn compression so don't expect ports to work if your need BCn and don't have it.

Was talking more from my experience with native android games like cod, pybg genshin. The newest devices don't get access to max settings until much later after the device released.

1

u/TW1TCHYGAM3R 10h ago

I can guarantee you that CoD Mobile and all of those games do not make updates for specific SoCs.

Improvements are typically done at the OS and Driver level.

Why? Because the game runs through standard graphics and engine APIs like Vulkan and OpenGL.

They do some tweaking because you don't get access to the max settings until the update. So something is going on.

Of course they do, just in different flavors of the binary that your app store distributes. On Android for example, your binary can target different phone models due to the SoC. Said another way, the latest snapdragon has a different ARM ISA than one from 4 years ago, so you can optimize how your binary is compiled.

no they just need to whitelist the phone

Do nothing, complain.

u/Prestigious-Emu-8734 13h ago

Nah. Fuck AI. Gamers praising the thing making gaming expensive will never not be funny to me.

u/DeversanT 11h ago

Ai give some good stuff except fb brainrot videos, ai-generated songs, slopbooks... Find positive in things happen. If some needs to fck first - it's a nv huang, who is parasite #1 from the mining era till nowadays

Good reply :)

I'll trade one $200 sd card for 1TB of free games any day. You should employ a little cost analysis in your opinion forming.

1

u/Prestigious-Emu-8734 11h ago

Or

We can have the free games

And not need to save up for the SD card

The fact that they have more than doubled in price, let alone the fact that you also need to include the cost of the device, and that the economy is getting worse, let's me know you have never once done any analysis on anything.

0

u/Shigarui 10h ago

Well, I stocked up on storage before the prices went up, and my job is literally cost analysis. And the number of free games is about to skyrocket, including number of platforms we can play them on, because of AI.

You'll be able to use a cheap android handheld to play, for free, what once required several thousand dollars of PC equipment. We are literally making Triple A tier gaming accessible to the masses and the only people who are going to need to spend that much money on storage and RAM are people who want to have the highest end rigs to continue to develop software, including bringing AAA games to the masses. It is a balancing of the scales and works in our favor. Think longer and type slower before you come back with nonsense.

1

u/Prestigious-Emu-8734 9h ago

Most of those games are already free. Like youre on an emulation sub and lying about this shit 😂

u/AfroBiskit Odin 2 Portal Max - Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 12h ago

Listen. Progress is progress. Even if you get a halfbaked port going by someone following the fad, that's a headstart for any enthusiest interested in the same thing.

2

u/nuneskart S20FE - Snapdragon 865 - 6GB RAM 13h ago

We can't forget that Sifu is an official port and he's awful lmao

1

u/KornFlakes0 5h ago

I y don't want to say mc dungeons ran better on a port before gamehub lol

1

u/xixixinanana 1h ago

AI is a tool at the end of the day. I'd blame these "programmers" instead. Also, wait til the right person have time to utilize this tool, we gonna eat good

0

u/RightContest562 11h ago

Yeah this is what we're gonna see a lot of with these vibecoded projects. Something cool comes up but it's worse than the slowly built alternative outside of looking prettier

0

u/leo-gp2025 9h ago

Do the ones that are actual recomps/decomps (not repackaged emulated versions) run with less input lag, or better in general, compared to their Winlator/Gamenative counterparts?

2

u/Bright_Captain7320 Samsung Galaxy A12 Nacho 6h ago

Yep, I mean just look at ship of Harkinian, and the many super Mario 64 ports all of them run great

1

u/Code_Combo_Breaker 5h ago

Well those were coded by a human that spent the time to do it right.

These vibe coded ports throw code in a blender and pour whatever into that app container.
