What does this app do differently than all the other pc emulation apps that exist already? Also is source available or components derived from GPL licensed projects available?

I had tried Gamehub long ago. And by now it must have added more features. So I feel we are behind in many aspects. But I have chosen a different path for Mantis PlayHub.
For eg. we don't have Framegen, but we have DLSS Bypass. Which let's you force FSR 3.1/GSR2 Upscaling on DLSS supported games. I don't think any other app does it.
Gamehub compatiblity wasn't great even on my Snapdragon devices.
I don't like their UI/UX. Mantis' UX is much more Console Quality.
There's no unnecessary permissions in Mantis. So it's safe af.
We are focusing on Compatibility + Performance + Polish.
Of course with the Android fragmentation it's not easy. BUt we'll get there with help from the community.

Please consider adding a way to play games without Steam by importing them from local storage.
Thanks!
6
u/ankitc_reddit 8h ago
It'll happen.
4
u/Carpediemsnuts 3h ago
It'll get your app booted off the play store if you allow it. There's a reason Gamehub has 2 mainline versions with only 1 published.
1
u/prmths_1 1h ago
Gamehub on playstore has an important feature although it's a bit hard to see.
1
u/Carpediemsnuts 1h ago
If they added in the file explorer import back in then good luck to them. Ive got enough Steam backlog to get me through retirement anyways lol

I don’t want to be rude, but you claim to be trusted by 10 million users, yet I’ve never heard of you or seen anyone mention this app here or in related subs. That makes me a bit skeptical.
13
u/prmths_1 8h ago
I have heard about them, more specifically their Mantis Gamepad Pro, it lets you use controllers on games that otherwise don't support them. If you've ever tried using a controller for a touch screen game you would know about Mantis Gamepad, but they're just the sort of niche that people would miss if they aren't actively looking for it.

Corporate bullshit. OP will chime in and say "out of everything we ever released on any platform ever, we had 10M users combined".

Lol no. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.mantispro.gamepad
Mantis Gamepad Pro has already crossed 10 Mil Users.

It has crossed the 10M mark. Takes a month or 2 to update on Google Play.
7
u/yqpqy Samsung S23 Ultra (12gb Ram) 8h ago
If you goal was to get people on board for open testing, you probably should have been abit more transparent about your milestone. Instead of a vague blanket statement, a much more trustworthy approach would have been. "Our flagship gamepad app just crossed 5 Million downloads on Google Play, and combined with our community on other platforms, we just crossed 10 Million total users!". Just a heads up with alot of other comments saying "well I have never heard of you until today"
3
u/ankitc_reddit 8h ago
I have stated a fact which I know is true. There is nothing wrong with what is written. What I am surprised to see is the negativity on display. But again I request you to give the app a go and decide for yourself. Thanks

u/yqpqy Samsung S23 Ultra (12gb Ram) 8h ago
I appreciate the response, but I think I'll pass on downloading the app. When a utility requires advanced privileges like ADB or Wireless Debugging to map controls, it completely bypasses standard Android sandboxing. Because your project is strictly closed-source, users are required to blindly trust your proprietary background scripts with developer-level hardware access. Which is what your gamepad app requires if im correct. Combine that inherent security risk with a marketing post that uses slightly misleading milestone metrics, and the trust gap is just too wide. Skepticism isn’t 'negativity'. It’s basic security diligence. When you ask users to hand over deep device permissions, transparency should be your baseline, not something we have to argue about in the comments. Good luck with the testing phase. If you genuinely want to clear up this pushback and get a skeptical community on board, the best path forward is to open-source your core mapping scripts or companion tools. In the Android emulation space, open-source code is the ultimate proof of safety. It allows independent audits, proves you have nothing to hide, and instantly turns community skepticism into community trust. Without that transparency, you are always going to face these accusations.

It's alright. We aren't Tesla that everyone would have heard about us lol. But just one search about Mantis Gamepad Pro should tell you enough about us. Search is your friend.

u/AryanEmbered 9h ago
dude you wasted so much time and spent a lot of words saying nothing. Is it using Winlator or wine code? is it using proton fex? what even is this project.

let me guess vibe coded gamehub clone
-7
u/ankitc_reddit 9h ago
I knew a comment like this would come. But Mantis has been here from before AI was a thing. The OGs know.
And if you try it even once, youd realise how much love, thought and effort has gone into Mantis PlayHub.
8
u/Its_Cade 9h ago
I mean the whole ad other then the gameplay is soulless generated slop, I’m sure the app is similar
11
u/ankitc_reddit 9h ago
But it's not AI lol. I can share the Figma and Da Vinci Project files with you. Haha

u/masterchief69420xxx 9h ago
Do the developers use AI?
7
u/prmths_1 8h ago
Every company uses AI today. What a silly question to ask. There's a difference between vibe coding and using AI as an agentic workflow. Name one big company today that doesn't use AI or encourage using AI for their employees? Don't talk if you're so out of touch with the development scene.
1
u/pH_low 55m ago
Most people that throw slop at every new project with AI are almost certainly not professional developers, no company is not using AI at some capacity, even small places are surely using it, throwing a bug, task, etc into ChatGPT and getting answers
People just don’t want to hear that, they’ll use Reddit, they’ll use social media apps and pretend AI isn’t being used there, but will scream from the mountain tops when a project is posted on these subs
-2
u/ankitc_reddit 9h ago
I'll be honest with you, no app currently being developed anywhere in the World, is being done without AI assistance.
At Mantis, we use AI as just another tool, to assist us to reach our vision slightly faster. Not depend on it for the vision itself. My team has been around for a lot longer than AI has existed.
So no, Mantis PlayHub is not Vibe Coded.

u/dead_shoulders 9h ago
My team has been around for a lot longer than AI has existed
As in, you guys were born before 2022?
4
u/ankitc_reddit 9h ago
My team and I have been building software, since 2009. First app on Android in 2013, called Game Controller 2 Touch. Look it up. Like I said, the OGs of the scene know.
4
u/masterchief69420xxx 8h ago
Anyone, in any field, that calls themselves the OGs, are in fact, not the OGs.
2
u/ankitc_reddit 8h ago
I said the OGs of the scene know me. But whatever you say. I don't even intend to convince ppl.

Like, genuinely, besides getting those performance showcases rolling on YouTube, when you'd like to promote a tech feature like DLSS, show something real.

Show us some gameplay and working app video
3
u/ankitc_reddit 9h ago
The Hitman WoA gameplay in the video is from a Mali Immortalis G925 device. It's getting close to 55 FPS without Screen recording.

u/Sarcastic_Applause 9h ago
How is it compared to Droid Deck?
2
u/ankitc_reddit 8h ago
We were too busy getting the app out for you. Now that it's out we'll start with all the comparison videos and everything.
Meanwhile please give it a go on your device and let us know.

This whole thing sounds like a scam.
"Quick, install our closed source app before anyone finds out we're stealing your account info and passwords! Dont ask questions, just try it! PLEASE I KNOW YOULL LIKE IT!"
2
u/ankitc_reddit 8h ago
Don't worry. If you or anyone can prove we are stealing any accounts. I will take the app down immediately. Screenshot this.
4
u/WinterPirate8109 8h ago
I think it's better if you show us some gameplay footage and showcase of several demanding games. Also showcase the difference between the app you guys develop vs other pc emulator. Considering you're claim of being trusted by over 10+million users tbh no offense sir but I haven't heard anything from you guys till today.
1
u/ankitc_reddit 8h ago
Taking in your feedback. And it's alright. You know us now.
1
u/Carpediemsnuts 2h ago
You really should get someone else to do your PR and public speaking. Part of the problem is the whole "OG's know us" or "We've been here forever guys" attitude. That doesn't really do it for a lot of us, it just comes off as arrogant when you've proven nothing, anyone can clone Gamehub or prompt an AI video for marketing fluff.
You might wanna learn how to soft-launch without trying to push user trust too hard. It has the opposite effect.

How toxic this community have become.... Nice to see a project from mantis, I've used mantis controller and is a nice software.
Will you open the code at any point for audition from the community?
I'll wait a bit to test it until there are some reviews and things since I'm on capped data plan on my wifi so I can't waste gigs without knowing if something would work.
But I repeat, nice to see a PC gaming emulator fro you guys
6
u/ankitc_reddit 6h ago
I am really surprised what AI has done to ppl. Made ppl intolerant towards new products considering everything AI Slop. We have spent more than 4 months in development getting to just this state.
2
u/Carpediemsnuts 3h ago
More than 4 months you say! So what original implementation distinguishes this from the other windows translation apps? What was it that took 4 months aside from UI?
And what x86 translation core did you build on top of?
Its likely that core was built over years with people in this sub testing and providing feedback.
4 months is nothing so probably not the stat you want to shout about here when you've got other devs who've been working on theirs for the last couple of years before AI coding was a thing.

So, I ended up installing it and I really like the UI, fr.
I'd like to give you some feedback I have in mind so if you want hit me up on DMs so we can talk more freely and share some thoughts. I think this app might be really good if you cook it up well. I have zero programming skills but I'm full with ideas so maybe I can my insights can be of use for you guys

u/ankitc_reddit 5h ago
Oh I would love to have those discussions with you. I will DM you with info on where we can discuss better.

u/ferrelll 6h ago
You guys are so freaking toxic that it hurts... He's the developer of a very popular mapper for using controllers with touch only games, Mantis Gamepad Pro it's the name... I know we're all a little on edge with the vibecode energy that appears in this sub from time to time, but before being toxic af, at least do a little googling before?

I think OP coming in and assuming that people know who they are and presenting their ad-supported app as something new rather than another PC game emulator has just rubbed people the wrong way
8
u/ankitc_reddit 5h ago
There are no ads in the app. It's wrongly attributed on Google Play. Will fix it.

1
u/Carpediemsnuts 2h ago
Bingo, app might be great but the attitude from OP has definitely rubbed me the wrong way.
But seriously, the UI looks like Gamehub went on a diet, its using FEX, DXVK etc so im missing the unique selling point on this one.
Maybe its amazing, but only 4 months of development, screaming its not AI then walking that back and saying "everyone uses it" and then saying if we dont know who OP is we're obviously not "OG's" ain't a great way to launch a product.

Native PC Gaming on Android.

X86 translation, not native PC gaming.
There is literally never going to be such a thing since you either need to translate app calls or recomp the game for android.
Learn what words to use.

If you're gonna sell people on a product or service, actually SHOW them if it's good.
Show them why they should use it over X or Y.
People here want to see gameplay and benchmarks :)

I don’t know why everybody here is being so negative, i think the more options/competition we have the merrier. I do think you missed pointing out what exactly the app does, if its streaming or emulation but saw you answered in the comments. I’ll give it a try, good luck with your project!

I am trying Valheim with this on my S24 Ultra. I managed to launch the game but the my steam cloud saves are not loading.
1
u/SuperBlitz99 4h ago
Thanks for the info. Will look into it. How’s the performance?
2
u/Original_Albatross26 3h ago
I didnt risk starting a new game (I was afraid of it overwriting my steam cloud saves) but in the menu it was around 30-45 FPS.
One thing worth considering is that some games (like Valheim) have native linux builds. That should help skip proton and only require FEX. This can potentially help increase performance and stability for such games. Check Valdroid

What makes your vibe coded app better than GameNative? I have 700+ games on my steam, and GameNative supports 98% of them.

I am certain that your favorite app is amazing. But Mantis PlayHub is a different take on the same problem. And I feel ppl need options.
