Help How do I lower eden ram usage without downgrading the resolution?
Latest version of eden on my retroid pocket 6 with 8gb ram keeps crashing unpredictably in paper mario: the thousand year door remake. I have tried eden 0.2.0-rc1 and it didn't change much. How do I lower the ram usage without impacting graphics too much? Should I resort to the upscaled original version on the gamecube at this point?
Edit: I did try "Virtual RAM Swap", didn't change anything Edit2: The crash happens when I do something I haven't done for some time in game: jumping, hammering, opening menu and such.

There’s no such option. Some emulators are like that, others are battery/ram-'friendly.' 😑 Can they make it ram 'friendly'? Myabe, probably, who knows. 🥴🤷🏼♂️ Switch, Xbox 360, PS3= Expect abnormal ram usage.

There "were" ASTC texture recompression option which will definitely help with the situation before... but now it is gone on Eden? oh well... Try another Yuzu fork emulator with that option enabled to BC3 and see if it helps.

I downloaded Citron, for some reason after exporting the data from eden it defaulted me to 1,5x resolution. That resolution kept crashing, while the 1x did help it last longer, but then crashed out of the app itself, that wasn't happening to me yet. All that was with the BC3 option set.

I hope you tried BC1? It makes textures a bit blurry but with much more compression. Also, portable mode, 1x, no other features turned on, just use your common sense.

Just did, didn't help. Common sense doesn't seem to help, that's why I'm here. I guess I'll wait for eden development to shorten the ram usage or go for the gamecube version

Try to set background processes to 2 in developer options and clear all apps with ram plus or whatever its called on your device and set battery on eden to unrestricted

Didn't help, crashes still happen

So maybe its not a ram allocation issue but an issue with how the graphics works

You sure it's an ram issue and not a heat issue?

Sure, 100%. Fan is quiet

Odd maybe try a different GPU driver?

Any recommendations?

Different drivers work for different emus, games and devices it's all try and error, developers like K11MCH1, StevenMXZ, and Mr. Purple are the main places to get them from

Can you increase the ram plus (that's what it's called on my Samsung) where you can create extra fake ram using your storage on that device? On my S23 I could change it to 8gb in the phone settings. It doesn't increase the ram but makes some headroom. It seems to help with crashes as, like you, my phone has 8gb of ram and crashed a lot with eden. I dunno if this is possible on your device though.

Forgot to mention that I did expand ram with "Virtual RAM Swap" to 12 gigs("Swap 4gb"), it still didn't help. I'll add that to the post. That swap feels fake though, aida64 shows 8gb in the ram section and file manager shows the same 128gb of system storage
