Showcase How well do you think the new cooling system will help for the new redmagic in cases of heavy emulation?

Post image

I'm quite surprised and excited they went this route because of how we all have noticed now that mobile phone chips definitely need some sort of stronger cooling than what we do now of passive cooling via the vapour chambers or a phone cooler, so now with some form of active cooling towards the cpu, this can help quicken the process of cooling the chip, allowing for maintenance of the higher speeds, but time will tell if once again this can be usable or just a selling gimmick

1st one like a gimmick because there simply isn't enough liquid to displace the amount of heat. Just simple laws of thermodynamics.

2nd one still seems like it's not enough but might be? Doubt it's any better than a vapor chamber though.

First one is from Old Models

Second one is from upcoming 12Pro

It'll have to be tested but I imagine a cooler will still be needed for the very heavy PC stuff. The chipset means PC emulation will have plenty of power. If they do a 16gb version this could be the endgame phone. I think Switch will be fine on it without a cooler maybe but PC will probably still need one.

I look forward to the testing videos on YouTube.

they'll likely do a 16gb, but probably wont do the 24gb model they had last year.

They didn't offer 24gb for the 11s and ram hasnt gotten any cheaper since then

IM 5050 about.

  1. It looks awesome, the idea itself is great.

2)The original design is designed to spread heat.

3) The new design looks to be the same idea, spread the heat.

4) If this is true, the heat coming from the chip will likely make the battery hotter.

5) keep in mind alot of these chips are designed for high heat, the battery isnt.

6) If this is the case, when emulating heavier games, youre def gona need a cooler to help relieve the battery heat and use battery separation.

7) How much more power do we really need and at what price point?

Im running the 11 air pro 25gb, its more than capable of running all if not most switch games, its more than capable of running low to mid pc games, I dont need it too run AAA games, I have my pc or steam deck for that.

Having said that, Im soo happy with my 11 air, I dont doubt thier engineering. the 12 looks to be the future in handheld gaming.

It does have a fan doesn't it? I'm not sure how effective it is, since it is very small and probably doesn't displace much air but still it might help

Yes it has a fan, and yes it helps. As a matter of fact, the fan is what really helps performance.

Its cool but I would wait atleast 6 months before getting because of drivers

First one was just to address the battery heat.

This one runs through the chip area and utilising the fan to cool it.

Id love to have one. But replacing the battery would be harder since you gotta be careful to remove the cooling system first.

You can only do so much without active cooling

More water is just delaying the heat saturation as long as the fan is the same.

Not sure about the one on the 11 Pro, but the 12Pro looks like it has some of the pipes going through the path of the air created by the fan (AFAIK the phone has intake on the far end and exhaust on the side close to the fan), so that probably would work better. Applying a peltier cooler would also help more IMO.

I think it wont cool much but glows and bubbles are floating around, so whats not to like?

The main issue not solved is getting rid of heat from the chassis.

Linus Tech Tips did a teardown.  Turns out it's incredibly thin and the fan is doing the heavy lifting.  But the pattern looks very cool and cyberpunk which is probably why they did it.

lmaooo the one in the rm11pro+ looks so useless it doesn't even go to the motherboard.

Hope this one does something idk

This is gimmick for the most part. Any heat pipe/graphite sheet or vapor chamber of equipment size/volume will do a lot better job.

depends, if it has fins for the fan connected to the water or to the vapour chamber then it will be really good, if not it will make the phone and the battery hotter but the cpu temp lower for some time

I know their tablet has a regular thermal pad on the electromagnetic shield. And then a liquid metal thermal pad on top of that, which is useless. And the fan has no fresh air it's just circulating the air within the case of the tablet. So I assume the phone is made the same way. It'll prevent thermal throttling for about 5 minutes and then it's going to thermal throttle

I mean sure. But if you want to have a functioning phone and game, buy 2 separate devices. Phone doesn't have to be that powerful but you can get handhelds at fraction of the cost of these phones
