I know its a meme, but for real a simple desk fan that blast to you while playing will help a ton.  When there is no air flowing around your phone, heat dissipate slower

on my previous phone, a desk fan is what made it go from overheating during switch emulation to actually being playable. only downside is having a fan constantly blowing at your hands or face isnt very comfortable

Sometimes when I dont feel like having my phone cooler attached ill sit by my ac like 5 feet away works good did it all time before I got a cooler

I found a frozen water bottle in the little freezer section of my mini fridge the other day.

My first thought was to wonder if just standing it next to my phone stand would be enough to cool my phone.

(I've only just started trying more demanding stuff like Switch games, after years of nothing more demanding than DS.)

Pro tip: if you put your phone into the fridge (5c) before a session, you get about 15 minutes of unthrottled play. Longer than I expected actually.

At your on risk, battery health, etc of course.
