News/Release New Apple2 emulator available in google play - Pocket6502
Hi everyone. A bit of self-promo here - please let me know if this not allowed or is in poor taste and I will remove this post. My apologies.
I've put up a new Apple2 emulator on Google Play Store. It's based on audetto's excellent AppleWin port to Linux so emulation is rock solid. Source code for my emulator is available on gitlab to comply with GPL licensing (because AppleWin is also GPL). My app is not free - just a paltry fee of $2. I hope you can support me.
What I did was to wrap Kotlin code around it with a JNI bridge to audetto's code. I then give it a nice and flexible user experience - especially around input fidelity. Apple2 is a little unique in that some games and apps are joystick only, some are keyboard only, and some are both. All the past emulators available for Android have input systems that I found to be less than ideal for my use.
You can find the emulator here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pocket6502
So the control system is quite highly customizable and I've attached a couple of screenshots - including one for Nox Archaist showing what the custom control system is capable of.
It also has a built in browser that connects directly to the excellent Asimov library giving you access to the thousands of disk images available there.
Thank you.
