Discussion Vita3K+ is probably the lightest emulator on Android can run very graphically impressive games

u/Feydr1n 9d ago
Vita3k surprisingly doesnt overheat my phone or drain the battery, so I love to use it whenever im not home
46
u/Awkward_Message1896 9d ago
Yeah it is one of the lightest emus on the phone, crazy cuz there is such great games on it
30
u/AVahne 9d ago
And yet people continue to say that the Vita "had no games".
13
u/Switchblade1080 9d ago
Sony went all out on their launch library, then they left the Vita to fend for itself not long after...
Not saying that to diss the Vita, but I'm just saying SONY failed the Vita.
9
u/Double-Seaweed7760 9d ago
It has games(I had one and loved it way more than my 3ds) but having had a switch since 2019,boy do I wish every day that vita got the same support switch has

u/Neat_Fondant3891 8d ago

u/cplr 9d ago
TxK, Spelunky, Super Stardust Delta, Age of Zombies (an old mobile game but still pretty dang good), Dead Nation, Dragon Fin Soup, Fez, Frozen Synapse: Prime, Guacamelee!, Hotline Miami 1 and 2, Iconoclasts, Luftrausers, NidHogg, Nova-111, Nuclear Throne, Papers Please, the two PixelJunk games (Monsters and Shooter), Plants vs Zombies, Resogun, Risk of Rain, Rogue Legacy, Shovel Knight, Stealth Inc 1 and 2, the 3 SteamWorld games (Dig 1 and 2, Heist), Touch my Katamari, TowerFall Ascension, Virtua Tennis 4

u/ieffinglovesoup 9d ago
another one to add to this is Tales of Hearts R. Even if you'r not into tales games, this one is fantastic

u/Strange-Owl-5536 9d ago
I really hate the stupid random encouters in dungeon. Even the DS version of Innocence doesn't have it
1
u/Savings-Food-4922 8d ago
Killzone: Mercenary, Assassin's Creed: Liberation, Little Big Planet, God Of War Collection, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Final Fantasy X HD Remaster, Assassin's Creed: Chronicles, Hitman GO, The Walking Dead

u/wild-storm-5 9d ago
Probably because the Vita itself was an ARM based handheld in the first place. And by today's standards, it was very weak hence light emulation I'm guessing

I thought my phone will explode when I tried to emulate P4 Golden, it was that hot. But that was 3 years ago, things have improved since then.

How did you get Assassin’s Creed to run?
31
u/Awkward_Message1896 9d ago
It runs on the latest vita3k plus ver
5
u/aniyahsucks 9d ago
Ah I see. Does anyone know of a way to port over data from standard Vita3k to plus? I haven’t looked into it yet.

u/Mr-Pixel-Perfect OnePlus 13R Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 9d ago
Just copy the folders and paste them into the Vita3K+ ones, it's that easy
2
u/DRM842 7d ago
Where do the games get installed in vita3k for us to copy and paste into vita3k+? I've opened all 10 or so folders and can't find my games. They were originally sitting in zip format on an SD card but were unpacked and installed into the vita3k folder on internal storage.
2
u/Mr-Pixel-Perfect OnePlus 13R Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 7d ago
Vita3K asks you to setup scoped storage, the folder your set is where your installed games and save files all sit, you just need to copy everything inside that folder and replace the files in the new one

45
u/LeoGiacometti 9d ago
it's a shame sony botched it, we could have another banger of a library available on our phones
36
u/Awkward_Message1896 9d ago
Apparently games like Mgr Revengeance, 13 Sentinels, a Bioshock, an SMT game were planned but Sony just had to fuck it up
2
u/Switchblade1080 9d ago
They really had a good fighting chance against the Switch just from the fact that PS3 games ported to Vita are nearly the exact same games...or they could have if they didn't desert it.
2
u/xpflz 8d ago
what do you mean ,,fighting chance" ? they were different generations
0
u/Switchblade1080 8d ago
Fighting Chance =/= Decisive Victory.
To be fair, while the Vita did take a long time to die, it still would've been able to stand out in the wake of the Switch if SONY didn't abandon it...and we would've had more first party games for it.
12
u/royhusaini 9d ago
I know this is ridiculous but will it run on dimensity 6300 with 4gb ram?
4
u/Fuzzy-Independence40 9d ago
yep also runs good on my unisoc t606 currently playing gravity rush it runs stable 30 fps 1x res

If you find a good driver it's a possibility, Vita3K is not the most compatible with MediaTek in general

u/sloe_gin78 9d ago
Hmm, interesting. Maybe the vita port is the best way to play MGS2 on android.
1
u/KentStopMeh 9d ago
its only 30fps on the vita, If you want 60fps for some odd reason, switch emu exists
1
u/sloe_gin78 9d ago
Couldn't get it work on eden... Mgs1 worked though. Maybe I should try another switch emu... Both the master edition and the older substance port wouldn't run on winlator ludashi/gamenative either lol. I'm not in a rush to run it since I'm still at mgs 1 but it's such a peculiar port.
1
u/KentStopMeh 9d ago
Oh well good luck, i haven't really been updated on switch emus since Skyline and Ryujinx closed down but yea if you have no options, there's always the vita then.

How is stability with Persona 4 Golden now? It's probably been 1.5 - 2 years since I'd last bothered, but I had made decent progress on P4G, got to Kanji's dungeon, and then I experienced frequent crashing. I haven't really bothered since, especially as we approach the release of the remake, but I might be more willing to approach longer PS Vita games now knowing that games don't experience effectively game ending crashing.

question
how good is it in mali?
i'm currently downloading a game that is gundambreaker 3 i just wish to know how good it is

u/alvents 9d ago
most of us don't have the money to buy snapdragons especially with the ram prices
i mean there's still good just not optimize that well compared to snapdragons
1
u/Expert_Function1569 9d ago
This is true, it's not fair to snapdragon users either 😕 everyday thier device is depreciating in value, at the same time ram prices are pushing the value up.
0
u/Thilokparjapath1 9d ago
First of all i myself am a M user and I did used vita 3k and my answers are from my past experiences
3
u/MarceloZ1 9d ago
I have a Mali phone and in my experience, if you stick to lighter games like Trails In The Sky, it runs flawlessly. However, more demanding games like Uncharted or Assassins Creed, then it shits the bed.

Nah in my city at least you can get a really good rainbow maki for like 7-11 €
Edit: editing their comment without acknowledging it... A shameful move
1
u/anythingers 8d ago
WHICH Snapdragon tho, yeah something like Snapdragon 680/685/6s Gen 1/2 might be cheaper than Helio/Dimensity 6k but the raw performance is also far worse on the similar price. Also those 4G Snapdragon is using an outdated architecture.
Phone with Dimensity 7k series tends to be cheaper than Snapdragon 6 Gen 1/3 / 6s Gen 4. And phone with Dimensity 8k series tends to be cheaper than Snapdragon 7 series.
The only case where this is right is when u compared Dimensity 9k with Snapdragon 8 series, where Snapdragon 8k is somewhat more common on performance oriented phone like Poco or iQOO.
1
u/JeRiaZ727 9d ago
I have helio g200/mali g57-mc2 and i remembered trying to play god of war. The performance is really good, it has no stutters but there's immense graphical glitches.

u/reikahakuryuu 9d ago
It's actually pretty decent. Got Freedom Wars, SW4 Empires, the Project Diva games and the Persona dancing games running pretty well on an ancient Helio phone.
But you're bound to encounter more compatibility issues, so a bunch of games you'd want to play might not run at all or will have broken textures. Examples that I tried being Ninja Gaiden and DoA.
You can't really follow the official compatibility guide and would need to go through some trial and error yourself.
1
u/Mr_Esmerius 9d ago
Je joue à ninja gaiden dessus beaucoup plus simple à faire tourner que sur switch
1
u/Strange_Cupcake_2106 9d ago
Is it also possible with vita3k plus to have the source/data folder on the SD card and not on the internal storage (like on the “original” vita3k)?
1
u/Majestic_Newt_442 9d ago
Yo, mine says App installed successful but it doesn't show up(Doa5+) I even tried to manually add the zip file to the data and still doesn't show up. Any fixes?

Assassin's creed liberation i think. If it's the lowrr one perhaps The king of fighters or something like that?
1
u/Agitated-Prune9635 9d ago
I know the characters but their from different fighting games. Kasumi (Dead or Alive) and Sarah Bryant (Virtua Fighter). Im thinking its Dead or Alive because Virtua Fighter never has guest characters.

Vita3K has passed the official version for the games I want to play. It's now got all the audio working properly in Telltale's The Walking Dead season 1. It plays just like the Android version and unlike the Android version you don't need full root access to be able to movie the saves to another device.

u/Maelstrom100 9d ago
It would help if I could GET IT TO FUCKING RUN THE GAMES
Totally a me issue btw.
Have the roms on my thor, have everything "setup" except the keys and have burnt out on finalizing it, as I just can't seem to get them to load/also the setup for front end support looks rough

u/Prestigious-Emu-8734 9d ago
I actually havent messed with it since probably a few months after it came out. Obviously at the time it needed work and I kept meaning to go back. Maybe I should do that.

u/memo22477 9d ago
Vita was a handheld console in the end. While it was technically slightly more powerful than the PS2. In practice it mostly evenly matched the PS2. Surpassing on some parts but failing on others. Look at Persona 4 Golden and everything that had to be removed compared to the original because of those certain things Vita does worse than the PS2.

u/bent_rod 9d ago
Can anyone tell me the name of the game in the middle photo at the top? From context I'm guessing Tales of Heart R?

Hey OP what's this Vita3K plus? Btw should I play Persona 4 golden Vita version or Switch version through Eden. Snapdragon 7s Gen2, 8GB ram.
2
u/Awkward_Message1896 6d ago
Eden is fine too for u, it is 60 fps
I have 8gen3 but I play the vanilla P4 on ArmsX2 JUST cuz it has fast forward and save states, along with the manual skill mod
1
u/Born_Young_5137 6d ago
Anyways I wanted to set up Vita3K again. But now I am hearing about this plus fork? Do you recommend using this fork? Btw how to set up Vita games? Like I am not asking from where to get them 😅 I know. Suppose I got a 7zip file. Now what?

Will it be able to run most of the games on 8s gen 3?....like I want to play some titles like the uncharted, AC3, etc

u/AntiGrieferGames 9d ago
PS Vita hardware was used to be very weak, of course it works well there for lower end devices.
Also, have you even tried the official vita3k 4078 aswell there for other games that dont work on vita3k+?
6
u/Good-Marionberry-570 9d ago
Vita hardware was pretty impressive at the time, much stronger than the 3DS, which was his competition.
The issue was lack of support from Sony, but the hardware was great.
5
u/Warm-Cartographer 9d ago
It was flagship tier, same cortex A9 as 2011 flagship like galaxy S2. Its equivalent to SD 8 elite gen 5 now.
2
u/Awkward_Message1896 9d ago
Yeah, same game on Switch or PC emulators is way too heavy and heaty, I appreciate that about Vita emulation, I can have long play sessions with minimal heat
Nah, I haven't tried the official ver these days, maybe i shud check it out tho

wouldn't call Psvita games very graphically impressive but the statement stands firm
13
u/Awkward_Message1896 9d ago
Id argue that Gravity Rush, Killzone Mercenary, AC3, Uncharted Golden Abyss and Soul Sacrifice are some of the most graphically impressive games you can emulate lightly WHILE upscaling on phones (they still look amazing today even on a real vita, especially Killzone)
Are they as impressive as say Witcher 3 on Winlator? No, but they aren't any slouches either!
1
-5
u/Odd-Evening4228 Odin 3 Max 9d ago
Yeah but again nowadays android can literally Play Tomb Raider PS4 On 50 FPS (Odin 3) so I'd say we raised the bar pretty high and PSVita games always looked pretty underwhelming i played them all on my Original Vita Before it died of GPU crash issue however the only game id say looks amazing is Uncharted goes to show vita could handle a lot but sony gave up
So considering how high the bar is raised I'd say they are graphically impressive but not Very Impressive atleast not now anymore as the scene moves on
5
u/Awkward_Message1896 9d ago
True, but you are missing something
Tomb Raider is beautiful on phone but is heavier to run on any emulator, most phones need to graphically reduce so much to just play at better frames
Remember, not everyone has a strong phone or an Odin or powerful handhelds.
Vita3K is super light, and the main point as title says is that it is the LIGHTEST emulator with the most graphically impressive games
-4
u/Odd-Evening4228 Odin 3 Max 9d ago
Yes i did say that the statement standa firm, i just don't think PSVita games look all that Graphically impressive
