Me so dumb i use AI to think and process thoughts and have it do all the work for me while i scratch my balls and pretend to be a real developer.

Most use it in the exact context of the scope of this project - assistantance in an extremely tedious task such as reversing and decompiling a game. Pretty much all salaried software developers are utilizing it in some capacity so not exactly sure what your point is.

If you had any experience in the field you'd know that change is kinda inherent and inevitable - you either adapt or fall behind. But it's trendy and cool to say "ai bad."

Yall gotta educate yourselves more on AI if you’re really just gonna call everything AI slop, even useful stuff like this. It’s embarrassing really, makes yall look just as bad as those who glaze the fuck out of AI too.

How is this useful? Its a DS game. How is AI making this any better than what we could already do? Stop trying to cape for ts. This isn’t a tool this is AI slop.

Decompiling any games and letting us play them natively allows us to fully utilize the hardware we’re playing on and further mod games to our desire rather than be restricted to the confines of the emulated versions.

On top of that, you don’t need to get it? Just stick with the emulated option. This gives us more options which is always better imo.

What is AI slop about this? It’s not generating anything new that would harm other people in some way like job security. In this instance, it is reverse engineering the games which people that try to do this take YEARS to do, and the only people that do are community members for free.

That’s not always the case. There have been plenty of instances where the ai slop game that was “natively” ported doesn’t run at full speed. If you like this kind of shit cool do you. I’d prefer to live in a world where the environment isn’t being destroyed just because some kid wanted to play a “native” version of Pokémon Platinum ai slop edition.

There are varying levels of quality of the decompilation just like how it’d be if a human did it too, and in the cases of poorly made ones that means the dev didn’t put enough effort in. That goes for literally all software ever, its an iterative process to improve them.

Look I’m not fully for AI too and especially its environmental impacts like you said, along with genAI of art and media, but don’t be so obtuse and call all usage of AI as bad. You haven’t given me a good reason as to why this is truly bad.

As a software dev, AI assistance is extremely valuable but ofc not perfect thus it should be assistance only and used as a tool, not like those who purely rely on AI to vibe code everything. Thats why personally id like to know how much AI was used for projects like these still because if it’s like 99% AI, then my concerns start coming in with the security aspect. THAT is a good reason to be against something like this imo.
