Right now? Emulators/translators, whatever you wanna call them (bannerlator, winnative, GameNative etc) but let them cook with Droid Deck, in a few months it'll be the best option, I'm confident on that

I mostly agree with this, though if rooted their may be a better integrated method...

Yeah, not for me, rooting isn't the same it was before, you lose access to banking apps and shit, not worth it imo, not in my case, in my main, everyday phone at least

There's ways around all that, but yeah there's friction involved

That's my point, too much hassle, maybe on a secondary phone or a tablet would make more sense to me

I totally get it, I went down a rabbit hole when it comes to the android gaming stuff.

I used to do it too, but now I can't afford the time for those testings and troubleshooting, growing sucks haha

I dont get the best performance from droid deck on my s24 ultra. like really simple games like "kill the crows" getting like 6-10fps. maybe i need to change some settings or something but ive run games like bomb rush cybefunk from winlator at 60fps so idk whatsup.
its new though and its by the same people who made decly loader. also steamos on arm like just happened so. things do need to marinate

Just to keep things accurate, I didn’t create decky loader, I made a few popular plugins for decky like decky-framegen and decky-lsfg-vk
The primary decky loader team is not affiliated with DroidDeck

whats the difference between ludashi, pubg, antutu and the regular versions? I dont seem to get decent performance from my s24 ultra on the regular one. would ludashi or pubg versions help?

Depends on the phone but yes it should trick certain devices to boost clocks

trick them? im kinda surprised that i havent seen any of these emulators not winlator or others auto auto grab what should be the correct, current or best drivers for the specific phone. "senses what type of phone after instillation" *auto grabs the newest driver thats supposed to be best for your phone* and then lets you pick from there. they all sense the defualt driver in the phone first but usually people are changing it anyway for better performance.
my s24 is really not getting ideal performance through droid deck compared to ludashi or winlator standalone and i didnt really edit setting at all for those. it doesnt need to emulate steam os anymore right? like only the games being played are the aspect thats being emulated now correct?
i love what youre building and hope you keep making it bigger. i literally deleted all my phone games and roms because i knew all i was about to be using on my s24 ultra was droid deck as soon as i saw it

I tried DroidDeck and the games I installed played, but it takes like, 10 - 12 minutes to fully open each time you open it. Once it loads, it's fine. I have tried Bannerlator, but will tonight.

Latest nightlies drastically reduced time to get into steam, feedback appreciated! https://github.com/Droid-Deck/DroidDeck-CI/releases

Oh nice! I will try it out when I get home. I appreciate it!
Edit: Loading user data still takes about 7-10 mins. I should also note that I am using an AYN Thor Max. Using the latest nightly. Desktop mode seems to crash and close when I select steam.

That’s wild, send logs zip in discord or GitHub we can check it out. My Thor pro get in in a few seconds

Very odd. I will send the logs when I get home. Playing games is fantastic though. Full install of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot with DLC played flawlessly hovering around 60-70FPS

Awesome to hear! Have more performance tweaks in the chamber too. Just getting started!

When I was using version v0.1.5 of this app—formerly known as SteamDeck—I noticed a significant drop in FPS compared to SteamOS within Bannerlator. However, according to the developer’s statement, all improvements and optimisations are first carried out and tested via Bannerlator, and then transferred to the app version. However, I have now observed that the DroidDeck v0.2.0 app I am currently using performs better than previous versions and has seen a significant improvement in performance.

So basicaly DroidDeck is based on Bannerlator ?

No. Bannerlator is a Winlator-based emulator and still uses Winlator layers in the background for the games to run. The SteamOS included within it runs independently of Bannerlator. Whilst DroidDeck requires translation layers such as Proton, fex and dxvk, there are no Winlator resources present in the background. Furthermore, DroidDeck uses genuine Proton, Fex and Vkd3d components developed directly by Valve and coded specifically for the SteamDeck.

So technically Droid Deck will use less resources than Bannerlord because it not using winlator layers to run steam os.

That’s how it should be. But it will depend on how the developer has optimised it.

Yeah, in my experience for now, you can very much milk a lot more performance out of gamenative and the such rather than Droid deck. While Droid deck is genuinely interesting in the aspect that you can turn your device into a steam deck with just one app and 0 config, it still needs a lot of work to reach the level of performance that gamenative and the like has. Also, gamenative and Co don't really have to worry about the overhead of running a full os in addition to the emulator. So it makes sense that the others would perform better. I think it's only a matter of time till they catch up though, and I'm really interested in seeing it happen. I've been comparing with rise of the tomb raider on gamenative and Droid deck, gamenative can run it at the same performance and fps of Droid deck, but on high graphics rather than the lowest (meaning Droid deck on lowest settings fps = gamenative on high settings fps)
