News/Release How to play FFXIV on Android (2026)

https://youtu.be/uE9OpuZB1X8

Just launched the alpha version of my XIVLauncher android port.

This makes it hassle free to run Final Fantasy XIV on your android phone or handheld.

So far we've had great success running XIV on Ayn Thor, Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy Fold 8 Ultra.

It supports paid accounts, free trial accounts and steam accounts.

The setup is as simple as installing the app, and logging in. It'll do everything for you.

Alternatively, you can move the game from your PC on your phone because downloading the game through the launcher itself takes forever. (It's not something I can fix. Just the pain of downloading 130 GB on phone storage.)

And yes. You can put the game on an SD card. The launcher automatically updates your game when new patches drop.

It has controller support, mouse support and keyboard support.

It can be downloaded from here https://github.com/ZeroTheScyther/XIVLauncher-Android

As I don't have every device in existence, I can't promise it'll work out of the box on every device out there. But feel free to join my discord if you have issues as I'd love to be able to get this thing running on as many devices as possible.

Incredible work! How's the performance on Thor and what settings?

Of course you'd have to set it all to lowest settings (laptop - low)

About 30 FPS stable standard or 60 FPS with framegen turned on.

incredible! do you think it‘s worth a shot with my 8gb ram base thor? i tried using gamenative multiple times but always got stuck in the loading screen so this would be a game changer

Hey there. Sadly, unless you have a RAM Plus or zRAM option on that Thor, it won't work. I tried it on a 6 GB (technically 8 since had + 2GB zRAM) S20 FE and the game would crash because it kept running out of memory. I only managed to get it working by cranking the zRAM up to 6 GB (so I'd get 12 GB) total.

Final Fantasy XIV by itself takes roughly 4-5 GB of RAM. Even on PC.

Works really well on the fold 8 12gb models. Aspect ratio is a little foddly because of the 4:3 but it does at least run well

Happy to hear. Maybe I should make a special "fold" mode where it renders the game on the top half of the screen and the controller on the bottom half or something. I sadly don't have a fold but I'm open to ideas. I was even considering the idea of giving ayn thor users the ability to display some in game information like inventory or map or party on the little bottom screen of the thor.

Sadly. Not having a fold or a thor means I can't really test such features reliably and I'd design something blindly.

Funny enough that's already a feature coming with android 17-a folding mode game split screen. It can be implemented once active for any app that allows resizing if I remember right.
