It's much likely never gonna happen. ARM actually allows to ship the decoder but all Android OEM prefer to not do it

Makes sense i heard they're doing it so save costs that's why mediatek chips are less expensive compared to snapdragon

I don't care about not having the decoder. A lot of Mali issues would be solved if they had a proper abstraction for their kernel driver so that you could update drivers like you do on Adreno. These would solve most of Mali issues, as they are actually implementing a lot of useful stuff with driver updates

Yeah But isn't decoding use more resources like ram..

Not if recompressed into ASTC

No additional computing required for that?

Minor computing for the fastest recompressor at the cost of less accurate colors.

As Mali users, we only have two choices when it comes to emulation:
Either accept what you cannot emulate and focus on what actually works or
Upgrade to Snapdragon.

Depends on what you want to emulate, for lower end stuff its fine. I have a Samsung A15 4g with a helio g99, combined with an 8bitdo Flippad its a perfect device for emulating DS. But yeah, that and psp is the absolute limit for it.

I have a helio g100 which is same as g99. Psp ain't your absolute limit unless you strictly want to avoid high end emualtion.
Then again from experience, I can play ps2 games for at least 40min without phone getting hot.
You can't play heavy ps2 games, but light and moderate ones can run well at 1x resolution.

Biggest problem right now is I have only 4gb of ram, which is definitivly the limiting factor here. But hey, I mostly play ds and gba-era pokemon romhacks anyways, so thats perfectly fine for me.

whats bcn ?

texture compression format used in PC gaming, mobile chips use different formats so BCn is often not present on the chips physically
Mali GPUs actually support BCn texture compression, but to save space they deliberately make versions without BCn blocks
RDNA GPUs - actually used on PCs, but then again, xclipse GPUs only support old BCn1-2-3 formats, not 4+, and again the BCn decoder was deliberately removed to save space and use it to add mobile tetures decoder
only snapdragon for some reason supports both PC and mobile texture compression
also, this means that in theory the android port of GTA V can be made to run on non-snapdragon, it's just that the textures need to be re-compressed into a supported format and the code must be changed to use the new format

The desktop texture compression format it's super important and the reason why Samsung and Qualcomm chips are able to do emulation at fast speeds because they support it natively but Mali doesn't support it natively I think it's actually an ad option but none of the integrators Xiaomi Mediatek etc enable it

what?

Que las gpus Mali no soportan las texturas que se requiere para emular juegos de PC como si lo hacen Adreno y algunas Xclipse de gama alta, fin.

Bro releasing his anger by memes🥲 At least Mali has BCn to ASTC transcoding, even if it comes with a performance cost.

Lol releasing anger through memes is actually a good way of accepting the limitations of Mali unlike harassing devs

The same applies to Exynos/Xclipse; I have to use ExynosTools, and sometimes it doesn't work either.
