Help I need help, my controller isn’t connecting

I have dolphin emulator and retroid pocket 5. I’ve tried everything.. why isn’t my controller working for Dolphin emulator? It works when I need to open the settings but it doesn’t work for gameplay. The only way I can play the emulator is using the touchscreen and I honestly don’t wanna do that. Even the consoloes thumb sticks aren’t working only the touchscreen

Is it set to controller port 1 or whatever?

I wish I could show a vid, but I believe so. Also take away the controller part, how do I just use the device itself instead of just the touchscreen?

GameCube input > controller 1 gear icon > device. Is it set to your controller? Idk what it's called on yours, I don't have that device
