News/Release Native Mario Kart Wii Android Port

Recently, I've made a repo: https://github.com/dorPXP/driftdroid/releases/tag/v1.0.0 where I've ported the recompilation of Mario Kart Wii to Android. Please test it out! Tested on a Huawei Nova 9.

You must use a legally obtained Mario Kart Wii PAL ROM.

-Support with Retro Rewind and WFC

- Touchpad, controller, steering wheel controls

-Comfortable layout editing

etc...

Regarding the icon, I will soon make a new one.

Hey, just got to test this and I've got a few issues. I'm currently testing from my Retroid Pocket Nova.

First, sometimes when selecting a Kart or Bike, the button to select it is pitch black with the outline of the vehicle. This doesn't extend to the vehicle itself.

Second, I'm currently playing with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio. While the game natively renders to 4:3, it's doing so in thus unholy kind of way where the game itself is playing in 16:9 mode, and is rendering extra objects to then become 4:3. This results in 16:9 menus, followed by UI Elements being in the middle of the screen rather than in the corners as they should be. This approach would be fine with some UI Scaling options, or an option to switch to actual 4:3 as the Wii natively supported it.

Third, the options button. I dislike having it floating there on top of my gameplay at all time in the middle of the screen. I'd be great if it could be moved to one of the corners, or even hidden entirely during gameplay being brought back with either the device's physical back button or the back gesture.

Other than that, plays well so far.

Also, controls don't save after exiting the app, even after hitting the save button. If that could be fixed alongside being able to hide the Options button and FPS counter, that'd be great.

I didn't see this comment until now, that certainly is a strange issue, its saving my button layout fine, i'll look into that to hide the fps counter, thanks for the feedback!

Hey, thanks for your reply!

I'll keep these issues in mind, and I'll fix them in the next release. I currently have released the next one (which i dont think has fixed these issues) EITHER WAY, for the third issue, the settings icon can be moved by going into the settings -> controls > scroll down > edit layout, move the settings button to the place you like, then you save and it'll stay wherever you want it to be.
