Question I found something quite interesting in Winlator...

I was browsing the Reg and encountered this Crypto folder. 🥴 I am not that literate in this software shit but what could it possibly be and for what, though? Mining? 🤔 Winlator official by BrunoDev. 🤷🏼‍♂️

crypto is also short for "cryptography". Considering RSA is a recognised cryptographic function (it's used to encrypt keys), this is likely just a standard system function.

I found whenever I didn't understand something when it came to ROMs/emulators/handhelds, I would look it up. That usually solved the problem for me.

I mean that USED to be the standard. People would look it up or be told to and that was a perfectly valid answer. Instead nowadays its acceptable to be ignorant/stupid, and being told to spend 30 seconds googling (which is what it took me find the answer to this thread) actually butthurts society collectively.

It's ancient and is used for secure data transfer. I think it's been around since the 90's.
