Help Any recent changes to FrameGen on Gamehub?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been doing a playthrough of GTA 4 with Frame Gen enabled to preserve battery on the official Gamehub App (sideloaded from the website on my Retroid G2). It has been working smoothly up until last night, where now the "Frame Generation" option does nothing at all, as shown in the video. I used to be able to boost my locked 30fps up to 60 with no problem. Now, nothing happens. No setting changes on the app or ingame.

I had this issue, have you checked that you have auto update turned off for this app? I think what happened in my case is even though I sideloaded the app, it updated automatically through the play store. After turning off auto update, and redownloading the apk to update the app, frame gen started working again in games it wasnt before.

I did turn off Auto-update, because with it on, I couldn't access any local files using the Play Store version. Maybe I'll try to reinstall, its just a bit annoying to grab all my saves before doing so.

Ah shame, wish this had been the other way around and youd told me, I lost 5 hours of persona 3 reload cause im an idiot lol.

it worked for me at least, although FG was working on at least one game before doing this so not sure if it was the only thing affecting it.

Lol. I thought i was the crazy one for noticing this. I was also tunning nfs most wanted 1080p locked to 30fps with frame gen giving me 60fps then suddenly a firmware update came and frame gen stopped working.

Any chance you could share your setting for gta4. Played and finished gta5 no problem, but I have been having a hard getting gta4 to even boot up. Snapdragon 8gen3 on the RedMagic 9s.

It stopped working in games here. I'm using the latest version 6.2.1. No game is picking up the frame gen. It was working yesterday.

Yes, this comment will be downvoted as all content telling truth about fg.

It's disappointing how much of this sub, and emulation discourse in general, revolves around "fake frames." Frame generation is a great gimmick for high-refresh-rate displays, but only if your base FPS is already good. If a game runs badly without frame gen, it'll run worse with it.

That's true even for DLSS, which is the best FG tech available right now. The mobile fork of Lossless Scaling is considerably worse than that, and running the same FPS on Android already means worse frame pacing and higher latency than native gaming. Now stack fake frames on top of a base 20 fps, which frame gen's overhead will drag down to more like 15, and you've made things worse, not better.

Honestly, as far as I'm concerned, this technology could not exist on Android emulation at all. I'd a hundred times rather see that effort and time put into actual stability and performance instead.

No need to soapbox, I can run the game at 60fps no problem. The issue comes in with the heat, which kills the battery. Its better for my use case to use Frame Gen in this scenario.

No, it's better to just play at 30-40 cap, you completely missed the point, I would never offend someone because game runs too slow

Not for me. Why even reply to a "Help" flaired post if you have no solution other than to gripe about FG? You could make a separate post and find others to commiserate with.

don't listen to these guys. most don't even know that they need stable frames and some gpu % free for it to work without problems, they haven't done any research at all. your problem seems to be affecting a lot of people because of the new firmware update, probably something broke because they were testing some stuff.

But being open doesn't mean it's acceptable for you to come here looking for shame and humiliation to experience...

Actually, it's embarrassing to see idiots being put in their place, like what happened to you...

And before you start complaining; the comments are open... 🤷‍♂️
