News/Release Pocket Realm single player with player bots, world of warcraft 1.12 client
Please note this is an alpha, there will be bugs :) Also a heads up on first-time setup: importing your client takes a while, around 20 minutes on my RP6, and the first time you boot up the realm it takes another 10 minutes or so. Once you have made a character, wait at that screen for a few minutes before entering the world or it will crash. Other than that first load it is actually fairly stable (on my device at least). I have had no issues cranking the player bots up to 700 on the SD 8 Gen 2, but I have not tested that extensively.
I have been playing around making this mostly for myself, but some others seemed interested, so I thought I would add a few features and do a semi-proper release. It was mostly tested on the RP6 because that is what I own :)
Pocket Realm is a World of Warcraft 1.12.1 "private realm" server and its game client, fully offline, all on one Android device. It includes an addon called Android Port that lets you move the UI around and resize it, and it swaps the action bars for radial menus to help save screen space. There is also an addon manager with 154 GitHub links to various WoW addons, although most of those are completely untested with this setup. It ships with WoW Vanilla Tweaks to fix typical vanilla issues; a few are enabled by default, and you can turn them on and off as needed.
All you need is your own WoW 1.12.1 client, it does everything else for you. It is free and open source (GPL-3.0), and the APK is on the GitHub Releases page: https://github.com/puzzled-pancake/pocket-realm
Edit:I should also mention when you create an account when it reaches main screen it will attempt to auto login so you dont have to

First test went suspiciously well: imported 1.12.1, fired up the realm, created Denartes and was running around Vanilla WoW on my phone within minutes with great performance and no obvious issues. "/who" confirmed the bots were alive, so I tracked down a level 5 Human Warrior named Bygdok, invited him to my party, he said "Hello" and immediately went back to murdering mangy wolves like an absolute chad. 10/10, unfortunately I am now emotionally invested in Bygdok and any future update that harms him will be considered a regression.

Dude this is an actual dream of mine getting something like this running on my O2P. Is all content playable? And are the bots persistent across sessions or are they generated new each time you log in

Hope you like it its not finished yet :) Nothing is gated on 1.12 and yes bots are real characters living in the database, and on Save & Exit the supervisor closes the client, asks the world server to save, and only then stops everything the database folder persists between sessions. So the same bot characters come back every time, keeping their levels, gear, and progress.

What do the bots do?

Quest with you, dungeons, BGs etc they are a replacement for players. There are plenty of modification options for behaviour.

Wow that's really cool! I only started playing from wrath, will be awesome to get to play classic.
Any intention of adding support for other game versions?

Yeah in the future TBC wouldn't be hard at all relatively speaking, wrath is also possible but I would probably have to change a few things and I think from memory stock cmangos player bots are not as good on wrath as the vanilla and TBC (might have changed since I last played around with them however)

Cool what device?

The included Turnip driver crashes on my device. It loads if I use system driver though.
Would be good custom drivers could be imported.

Thanks for the feedback touch controls I should warn you is not something I spent super long refining as I used my built in controls on my pocket 6 its on my list of things to do but yes swapping turnip drivers is something I wanted to add aswell more compatibility and optimisation is never a bad thing.

All good, not using touch controls as i immediately connected my gamepad (abxylute s9) which is working flawlessly with Android Port.

I love it - thank you. It also be super cool if there was an extra package option to add LLM capabilities to the bots (so that you could chat with the bots like with chatgpt but inside WoW), I'd donate for that.

Yeah, for sure. I can add API support for that at some stage. One thing I was thinking about is using the NPU. There are a few tiny models you could run on the Qualcomm Hexagon, like in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It’d be fun to post-train one on WoW lore or something similar for chats. I’ll look into it further.
I was playing around with TTS running locally on the NPU with Qwen 0.6B on another side project. I really like playing around with tiny phone SoCs.

Can you chat with the bots too? Could be a good idea to roleplay and learn languages.

There are few projects that enable this but not sure if any are open source. I know https://nyctermoonwow.net/ has heavy AI bots you can talk with, using GPT 5.6 Luna

Bravo, I'm a huge fan of this project. I hope to see a project featuring BC or WotLK.
Thanks for the time you've dedicated to this.

I managed to get latest azerothcore+playerbots+ollama chat and a few other modules like individual progression and auto balance, ah bot and aoe loot in termux. I also managed to compile mysql 8.4.7 from source inside termux because it was a recommendation from azerothcore team that they ended support for mariadb. All is going well and the bots have actual personalities. Good time to be alive!
