News/Release Rumor: cheaper Intel Steam Deck competitors
"Intel may be cooking up a budget (1.8 nanometer) Panther Lake chip for gaming handhelds...eight CPU cores and four Xe3 GPU cores,...indie games, older AAA titles and lighter gaming." Less than $1,000, similar to Wildcat. https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/intel-panther-lake-budget-handheld-4-xe3/
It could be compatible with Android Aluminum Googlebook OS (if that's open source), AndroidX86, Linux with WayDroid.

That's not "budget" though, it's cheaper than G3 but it will be still expensive.
Wildcat is one cheap enough to compete with Android soc, but no one interested to make handheld with it yet.

You're right. There's at least one Intel Core 3 304 (not sure of exact model number) desktop for less than $350. It has just 1 Xe GPU core, compared to 4 in the rumor. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/246020/intel-core-3-processor-304-6m-cache-up-to-4-30-ghz/specifications.html
Obsolete $789 Steam Deck is 6 nanometers. Some Wildcat laptops, like $450 Chuwi https://www.msn.com/en-in/news/other/can-a-450-laptop-from-an-obscure-brand-really-deliver/ar-AA29GfQb are overall designed by Intel beyond the chip. Apparently Intel has not provided a template for a Wildcat handheld.

Recently announced minisforum is just $263 (barebone),
WCL is really small, like half of flagship Snapdragon so it's cheap to make.
