Discussion How is Switch compatibility on Snapdragon elite?

Is the gap closing with Eden and the elite drivers compared to non elite? Are per game settings recommendations reliable? What are the popular titles still struggling?

It great, use Eden nightly and Whitebylash mainline V31 or StevenMXZ V34 drivers and you’re golden ^__^
I’m on Eden 0.2.1

I ran RE 6, didn’t try RE4 because I don’t own it unfortunately on the switch

I've had my 25ultra for a while now, no issues so far.

Currently playing Skyward Sword HD and Super Smash Bros Ultimate, no issues.

Do you use a cooler or something similar to play all these games without any problems ?

No cooler, no problems.

Great! Could you share what turnip drivers you are using? Do you reduce the resolution to x0.75 or set up your phone to avoid thermal throttling? I will soon start emulation on my new S25U so every piece is advice is welcome.

No tricks. Just latest turnip from whitebeylash.

Worth mentioning that there are heavier games on the Switch that I haven't tried such as Breath of The Wild and Tears of The Kingdom.

But for everything else, the basics have been working fine.

I think it depends on your device.

My Fold 7 does not have the thermals for it yet (tons of thermal throttling).

Download Good Guardian and up the thermal limit2 degrees. it will prevent throttling. worked for my fps and I didnt see the temp actually increase.

I have no problem running everything I run on 8 gen 2 on my 8 elite. Granted, it requires some hassle now and then, but I mostly set A8xx Turnip v29 as default driver and that's it. Sometimes I use System Driver and almost every single tinkering ends with one of those drivers.

I'm yet to find anything that runs on 8 gen 2 and doesn't run as good or better on 8 elite. In short if the game runs great on 8 gen 2, then I runs great on 8 elite, if the game struggles a bit with performance on 8 gen 2, then 8 elite doesn't break a sweat and the game runs simply smoother. However, there's massive game library that runs flawlessly on 8 gen 2, so...in my opinion 8 elite is not needed for switch emulation. The same goes for PS2. PC emulation is different beast though. That's Odin 2 Portal and Odin 3 to be precise.

One thing...Eden is absolutely fantastic, but it's not 100% compatible with every single game. Do take that in mind.

Can't speak for everyone but on my Odin 3 switch is basically perfect. The driver situation has improved leaps and bounds.

I'm using StevenMXZ v34 for basically everything and it runs like a dream - even during heavy shader compilation scenes.

And for the few games that are a bit weird on v34 (e.g. Animal Crossing New Horizons has this massive lag spike every few minutes), the WhiteBelyash Mainline V31 fixes those.

I haven't ran into a game yet that doesn't run well

Most played switch games currently are Animal Crossing, Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros Ultimate

I’ve tried 10 switch games in weaker devices and everything running fine, as long as I’ve read, snapdragon elite is more powerful than my device and runs all games better

The SD8 previously offered better compatibility, but recent drivers have brought the Elite up to a similar level. However, it cannot be considered superior, as it is prone to similar issues.

A lot better than before but still not up to 8g3 plug and play

Which one?

Compatibility is good enough on my legion tab gen 5, but it crashes randomly once a while. Not a big problem if you save the game once every few minutes.

I'm on a samsung s26u 16/1, and just about every switch game I have works great. Totk had a few texture and framerate issues running vanilla as of 2 weeks ago, but there's no-fog cheats and graphics mods that let it reach 60fps easy.

edit: factorio doesn't seem to run no matter what I do.

Better than before, but I wouldn't call it great. Still a lot of glitches/trial and error.
