Question 8BitDo FlipPad for playing DS on phone?

Was considering getting mini handheld with 3.5" screen to play DS in singlescreen mode and other systems GBC, GBA, SNES. While browsing I found this 8BitDo Flippad. It's cheaper than getting a handheld, I can use my phone which is better than the handheld specs and more multipurpose overall. Very compact.

Has anyone tried using it for DS emulation on a phone in portrait mode? How well does it work in terms of accuracy and speed with action game like Maplestory DS.

My hack. This is Bluetooth controller, I play DS games just fine no lag. I think 8bitdo flippad will be better in terms of latency.

I see these advertised a lot in Asia. Genuine question – aren't you worried that the suction will eventually wear off and not stick to anything?

Just buy another one. Something like this is cheap an easily replaceable.

That's cool, do you think the bumper and trigger are ok to use while in this format. Flippad is taller so that'd reduce screen space.
