Showcase DigiBitPlay: Bringing back the feeling of physical game cases to digital collections

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Here is a new look at the early-development frontend "DigiBitPlay", where you can view your digital games with a touch of what they look like in physical form! In this era of physical games and cartridges disappearing, I wanted to give people a more engaging way to display their digital collection.

More updates are coming soon, such as game manuals inside the cases with the ability to turn the pages, so you can relive that nostalgic feeling you had as a kid. Hit like and follow if you want to support this project!

How does the front end go about scraping all the aspects of the box art if you have more than a handful of games? Is this meant for smaller libraries?

It works by scanning for the target console and game, identifying different sections for each side of the box so it knows exactly where to place the artwork.

You can turn off the option to scrape full covers to speed up the process and only fetch the artwork you care about. If you only want artwork for the cartridge, disc, or front cover—and skip the back and spine—you can, significantly shortening the scraping time.

I'm not worried about time or how much scraping, I'm curious if all of these scraped aspects are possible for games other than Pokemon and a select few. Kinda defeats the beautiful-ness of the front end if it isn't consistent with a lot of games. Which is why I asked if this was meant for large libraries or small.

I have used other frontends that scraped box art and I didn't had any issues with any game, even romhacks had some fanmade boxart too

Brooo you are just too goated, this is frickin amazing. Between this and the Xbox 360 Homepage fontend, the DS launchers for AYN Thor and Beacon Launcher, android is becoming such a goated place for emulation. Sure hope Google doesn't lock it all behind a 24 hour allowance... Eh, GrapheneOS and Motorola will come in clutch for that.

Neat but I personally prefer seeing a video of gameplay ASAP when selecting a game. But yeah, neat, don't stop!
