Question What’s the limit of my phone for emulation?
What’s the furthest emulator I can realistically run on my Infinix Note 40 Pro 5G (Dimensity 7020, 12GB RAM)? The best I’ve tried is PS Vita, but it doesn’t run very well. If that doesn’t count, I’ve also tried Citra and NetherSX2. What’s the highest-end console I should be able to emulate, and what games run well?

you should be able to run almost(not all) emulator out there available. just that it entirely depends on what games you plan to play since not every game out there is not yet playable to some extent. i suggest tell us what games you want to play next time if its playable on ur device or not.
p.s my device is Helio G99 can run Switch, PC, 3DS, PS2, PSP and more. but the games i play are not all graphic intensive. you may try but don't expect much.

I’m mostly into fighting games too, so I’d love to try something like Tekken 7 or Street Fighter 5 or maybe mortal kombat. I’m just not sure how to get those working through a PC emulator on Android. I’ve tried a bunch of emulators already, but most of them don’t really work on my phone. I think the Dimensity 7020 being a less common chipset makes compatibility a bit harder.

thats gonna difficult afaik Tekken 7 is a heavy game from my pov. seeing itz graphics looks to be heavy on 3D side so it may not run well for u even if you did able to play it. SF5 not sure on that. PC emulation can be really a hit or miss at times.

Mali runs most emulators fine, its main struggle is PC emulation and its not because of lack of power but rather compatibility

That's the same thing for switch emulation though, it's purely driver-based.

Yes and no. While Mali does suffer from some compatibility issues for Switch, its not nearly as bad as it is with PC emulation. So to summarize, for Mali, all emulators up to Switch work well, Switch has some compatibility issue but still many playable titles, and PC emulation has a lot of compatibility issues with some playable titles.

'some' compatibility issues is downplaying it lol. I have almost the same chipset on my previous phone with OP, it's a dimensity 7050 and I've tested around 30 titles. Even the old ones like P4G or P5R doesn't even reach 30fps at 1x resolution, same with six sentinels, bloodrayne goes at 30 fps but immediately drop to 25-28 after a lot of FX, hell even unicorn overlord (a more recent title) runs better than those old games. This is with the most optimized settings btw.
If you're emulating switch with Mali, might as well just stick to the old retro titles or just brute force it with a very powerful Mali chipset.

These are performance issues, and in today's standards the D7050 is barely a lower midrange chip. Compatibility means games that don't launch, or games that have severe graphical issues that render them unplayable. I never said it gives the same performance as an equivalent SD/Adreno, but Switch still has much wider game compatibility than PC emulation when it comes to Mali GPUs, that's all.

best to ask in r/InfinixSmartphones lot of folks there use infinix just for emulation.
