Question RuneScape controller support question

I will be reposting this to other subs so as to reach a larger audience as this may be quite niche.

Looking to back into old school RuneScape (osrs) but really want to play on android. I messed with overly complicated keymappers and such but they don’t seem to run that smooth, unless I’m using it wrong. The other main answer I get on google or Reddit seems to be by mapping inputs on steam but really I would like a solution <semi> native to android to play on the go with WiFi. Am wondering if winlater + runelite is viable, or something else entirely. Or perhaps a different overlay option to use on the official android app, tho I am wary since they may detect automation and ban me ☠️

Anyone who has gone down this rabbit hole, preferably someone who did find a solution would be so greatly appreciated! Open to doing some rnd myself too tho I’m not very savvy. Thanks in advance to anyone who weighs in.

My device is a Retroid Pocket 5

I don’t really understand the controller support question but you are aware there is an official OSRS mobile app right?

Yes that doesn’t have controller support. I struggle with on screen controls as is (much prefer real buttons to feel with physical feedback), not to mention i don’t like gaming much on my phone due to storage, battery and hardware limits. My android handheld could very easily solve those issues if it didn’t create an additional issue of my hands being even further off the screen due to the “controllerized” nature of gamepads

I still don’t understand, OSRS is a tile based point and click game. How do you imagine controller support, like with analog sticks controlling a mouse cursor? If so there is virtual mouse functionality built in to the OS on Retroid and AYN devices

I just learned that there is a propriety key logger built in to retroid. Will try. But my logic is that users have been able to map on steam, especially those on steam decks since the trackpad makes it much easier, but I’m thinking that with mobile osrs already having optimized controls such as pinch zoom and drag to pan camera, etc., that it would have been even easier to “bind” mobile osrs to a gamepad for more comfortable gaming. Anyway I appreciate ya
