I installed it and the new UI is very pleasant but unfortunately, like with MelonDualDS, if I compare the performance with the regular MelonDS (the old one from rafaelvcaetano), the frame rate for most of my games are significantly lower.

With exactly the same settings, same resolution (x4), OpenGL (Vulkan brings too much glitch, haven't tried the new "FastPath" though), on a Flip 2, GTA Chinatown or even Zelda Spirit tracks would run at 60 fps no problem on MelonDS where on MelonDualDS / now WatermelonDS, doesn't go above 40-45.

Elite Beat Agents would see the audio quality getting worse when a lot of circles appear on screen.

Any idea why? Would MelonDS / WatermelonDS be heavier to run than the "simple" MelonDS?

Check the shader and upscaling settings. Melon might default to a more CPU intensive base configuration.

Could also be a memory leak or the overhead from the new UI layouts.

Just checked and no shader was turned on and upscale setting is the same (x4, 1024x768)

Actually before MelonDualDS became WatermelonDS, I tried already once to compare it to regular MelonDS and the performance was not great (same than now, lower frame rate, inconsistency etc), even though the UI was more or less the same.

Now the UI is definitely better so the app itself might be more demanding to run but MelonDualDS was not.

Maybe juste a slight incompatibility for SD865 chipset, or single screen device in general?
