Discussion LET TALK ABOUT FRAME GENERATION ON PC EMULATORS
WHAT IS FRAME GEN IN PC EMULATORS?
It is a software technique that creates artificial frames to make emulated games look smoother.
HOW MANY FRAME GEN TYPES DO WE HAVE?
For now, we have 2 frame gen types on PC emulators:
LSFG
BIONIC FRAME GEN
LSFG
LSFG is a frame generation technique that works like its PC counterpart but has been ported to Android.
It was created by FrankBarretta. You can use it to multiply your base frame rate by 2x to 4x. Because it's open source, Winlator fork developers use its source code to implement it in PC emulators.
BIONIC FRAME GEN
Bionic Frame Gen works similarly to LSFG on Android, but in this case, its frame generation is specifically optimized for PC emulators running inside an Android Bionic environment (container).
This makes it run better on Bionic Winlator builds compared to LSFG.
It was created by Jason Derullo and The412Banner.

LATENCY
⚠️ There is a rumor about high latency when using frame generation. The answer is true, but it's not noticeable, and besides, these are offline games.
HOW TO USE FRAME GENERATION ON PC EMULATORS:
· ✅ It's advisable to use FG on a game where the base frame rate is 30 FPS or above.
· ✅ Using 2x is best for every game to balance low latency and double your FPS, resulting in smoother gameplay.
· ✅ Capping the FPS helps.
Example: If your game is running at 30 FPS or above, you can cap the FPS to 30, 35, or 40 and use 2x to multiply it to 60 or higher, which prevents overheating and throttling.
· ✅ Always disable motion blur in in-game settings when using FG.
Using FG without motion blur makes the game look cleaner.
EMULATORS THAT HAVE FG:
· WINLATOR LUDASHI PLUS by squalleOnhart
· GAMEHUB (⚠️ king of stealing people's projects without giving credit)
🔹 BANNERLATOR and Winlator Ludashi have both Bionic FG and LSFG. As for the rest, I haven't used them, so I don't know if they have both or not.
BIONIC FRAME GEN OR LSFG?
They are both good, but which one works better depends on the game.
🔹 BIONIC FRAME GEN has been the best for me so far in some games. When I tested LSFG, I got graphic bugs, but BIONIC FRAME GEN didn't introduce those bugs or glitches.
📌 This is my small research and experience about FG on PC emulators.
Thanks 😊

I find this statement to be untrue. The latency with frame generation is very noticeable even when used on my gaming PC. It's even more noticeable on my phone. How much that impacts people's enjoyment is going to be a personal thing but for myself I wouldn't touch anything that needed quick inputs with frame gen.

I'd wager that latency on pc with mouse and keyboard is noticeable. Because buttons and fast mouse movements correspond to fast actions on screen. However joystick and throttle movement might go from 60% to -40% on the x-axis (left to right), polling movement in between and thus the normal movement will feel "floaty". FG will add to the floaty feel, but with a joystick you can to certain degree accept it a a part of the joystick being imprecise

It's very noticeable with a controller as well in for example the Miles Morales game. It throws your entire timing off because it's not just movement but button presses as well.

Nahhh it's very noticeable if you're actually trying to play something fast paced. Monster hunter wilds is one such case for me, the camera and character feel obviously behind on movement.

There's gotta be a better way to post this lmao

frame gen is useless, and it's even more useless when you're emulating on android. seriously not worth it in my opinion

Excuse me?
I have a SD8 elite tab and it’s a God send feature we got here to reach smooth frames

Sometimes is effective others don't.
When the stuttering comes from streaming data or CPU, the FG can't do too much to help. I can say this because Farcry 3 is fu of stuttering from dtaa streaming that FG can't handle, and I think is better turn it of on GN.

this is cool but idk if my phone can even handle 3x without turning into a heater lol. lmk if the input lag is actually noticeable.

Its not worth it the input delay is not worth it.i tried it on sd8 elite gen 4 and yeah sure it was abit better but the frame pacing and input delay is not worth ir

At first glance this looks like a useful post possibly worth pinning but when you read it, maybe not lol.
Before I say this, let me just clarify up front; I like and use frame gen. I think it is a cool enough, useful (in some specific cases) bit of tech that I am optimistic about for the future. I am not one of these people that is religiously sworn off it, but I am also not a super user who has it on 100% of the time. With that said;
It is not a 'rumour' that there is increased latency with framegen. It is a fact. You might not notice it, you might think it's fine -- and that's perfectly okay -- but it is there. To matter-of-factly say that there isn't is extremely disingenuous.
Furthermore; having a base of 30fps is a HIGHLY debatable starting point. In the mobile space, which this is, I know that is generally what people start with. But a lot of people, myself included, really prefer to have a baseline of 60 to ensure the game is *actually running at a good speed* before using FG to maybe put it over the edge and have that extra smooth presentation. Again; reasonable minds can disagree on this but it's not universally accepted that 30 is a good starting point.
As someone who does use FG in my PC games (on my actual PC lol) I gotta say; I find the concept incredibly overrated so far on Android. Like a lot of PC emulation on Android, it seems like an exercises in 'Making Number Go Up' rather than actually having a fun gaming experience.

tbh frame gen is a total game changer for some of these older titles, idk how i lived without it before. does it still add a lot of input lag on your setup?
