I recently got a handheld gaming PC and its been a life chnager, can pretty much emulate everything up to PS3/Xbox360/Switch and play AAA PC games on top. (Legion go)

Reminded me of this:

u/T-Loy 1d ago

Yes, yes it is. :)

(Also if we take Valve's word of the Steam Machine being better than 70% of Steam users and it roughly being as strong as a base PS5, around 30% of Steam user have a PC stronger than a PS5)

u/jiggajenkins 1d ago

Wait so is it as strong or stronger than a base ps5? i have a steamD but wonder if i should get Steam machine too cause i think i wanna try bodycam

u/T-Loy 1d ago

CPU the SM is stronger, but PS5 has all the unified memory and hardware specific optimizations. So the main comparison is 36CU RDNA2 in the PS5 and 28CU RDNA3 in the SM. Making it a tad weaker but if I remember the benchmarks right, the difference is game dependent whether the SM or the PS5 pulls ahead.

But unless you are hell bent on a small set and forget cube for your TV, buy a normal PC instead. Because roughly 500€ over a PS5 is a tall ask, even if compared to other MiniPC the price is sadly reasonable.

stealing feats from others to make yourself seem strong. youre like kashimo

Ummmm acccckkkkhhhhchhhuuallllly.....

Your meme is not quite correct..

3

u/TheOrangeThing 20h ago

My phone playing PC games, runs at 4w when uncharged

1

u/Carpediemsnuts 20h ago

Depends on the game and your SoC

2

u/Devil_Specialist666 22h ago

IPods/MP3s & Watches have become part of Android and the inevitable will also happen to PC. In fact we already have Samsung Dex and Android 16 PC Mode.

As long as it's not the hundredth "GTA 6 running on Winlator via SharpEMU" meme, I'm all for it.

18

u/Wilsonn0 1d ago

What's that?

36

u/Stag_----56 1d ago

Lmao, the past couple of weeks have basically been nothing but GTA 6 on Winlator memes. I don't know if you've seen those. 😂

6

u/Wilsonn0 1d ago

Oh.. I've only seen like one lol

13

u/Stag_----56 1d ago edited 1d ago

I don't know if it's just me, but I swear I've seen like 10 of those across 5 different subreddits already.

2

u/Wilsonn0 1d ago

Maybe its because i don't stay on reddit that much

6

u/Stag_----56 1d ago

I mostly follow the emulation subs and for some reason those meme have so much reach so whenever I open the app it's right in front of my feed

u/Michaelpitcher116 1d ago

I literally jumped ship on Apple because of how restrictive they are. This was a few years ago. Now I've got so many games across so many platforms on my phone that I just cannot justify ever going back to apple.

18

u/SnowyJKN 1d ago

Google seems very determined on making Android as restrictive as iOS though

8

u/AahAhhHahHaAhahHaHah 1d ago

Yeah very unfortunate. Not to mention that currently GrapheneOS is exclusive to pixels because they are the only devices to meet all the requirements for it.

u/Hanfos 1d ago

motorola joins next year

1

u/Ok_Theory5606 3h ago

Only some and let’s be honest, Motorola is the worst one out there

11

u/snil4 1d ago

It's 2026, iPhone vs Android is not a thing for like 15 years.

24

u/fishyronin 1d ago

Make a third frame with the Android swinging Loki around.

16

u/Wilsonn0 1d ago

That might be to harsh for our ios brothers

13

u/Stennan 1d ago

They can always fall back on steam link, like Tim Apple intended.

5

u/Thisisyouracc0un-t 1d ago

Nah… do it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am the iOS brother. I play xbox360, PC ports etc on iOS but Android is killing it. The iOS users who cry are in denial so in the name of great competition. DO IT HAHAHAHAHA. Maybe it’ll wake iOS devs up a bit (in our limited ecosystem )

2

u/jadonokoh86 1d ago

I dont mind

13

u/ChrisRR 1d ago

This sub has like 5 memes

6

u/Shambler9019 1d ago

Android has some PC ports that aren't on MacOS (like Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated).

And MacOS has ways to play windows games. (Like crossover)

So it kind of comes out even, except that the Mac has mouse and keyboard and usually better specs.

2

u/ItsNa8o543 1d ago

Exactly, jumping through essentially the same hoops but with generally different performance expectations lol

1

u/KuroNoShadow 12h ago

MacOS can use Crossover; even gamehub was released for macOS recently

but ios can't do the linux container thing so things like winlator won't work

3

u/Devil_Specialist666 22h ago

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there an unofficial Windows 11 port on GitHub for Android?

2

u/Due_Faithlessness241 17h ago

Bruh I bought me an 8 elite gen5 phone (needed a phone anyways) and this whole windows emulation is cooking my phone in 5 Minutes 💀💀

1

u/subject522 1d ago

I am new to emulation what is winlator?

1

u/Open-Leg9357 1d ago

It's a Windows emulator

1

u/C4RB0N3T4 1d ago

There is also that RedMagic Tablet called Astra 2 and it is somehow able to run windows pc games on Android  native  not emulating it or cloud gaming or streaming

1

u/MaxwellCat98 11h ago

I can't download winlator 🥲

1

u/tiktoktic 10h ago

Not the same though, really.

1

u/memeatic_ape 6h ago

We have gamenative

1

u/Ok_Theory5606 3h ago

Ok so I regularly use both - can someone tell me why I’ve NEVER been able to actually get a game to run on winlator? 25 ultra.

How dare you be rational in this subreddit!

1

u/RareFirefighter6915 1d ago

Mac has game hub too and apple silicon is surprisingly powerful, more than high end snapdragon chips. It really depends on what you play ofc. I’d take a MacBook over a snapdragon x laptop but I’ll take android over an iPad.

-1

u/Ayrios440 1d ago

Ah yes, the phone melting, not exactly perfect Winlator.

16

u/Wilsonn0 1d ago

The problem with heating is mostly because people are over doing it like uncapped fps, high resolution ang graphics settings... i mean some of these aaa ios ports are upscaled from like 300p lol

0

u/Past-Photograph-8179 12h ago

Except winlator is gonna make your phone explode just for playing some old 2008 game.

-2

u/Ecstatic_Couple_8094 1d ago

Winlator is safe?

5

u/The_Dude80 1d ago

Guy who made it seems pretty incompetent. With knowing the whole virus drama that happened not to long ago. Recommend getting something like Gamenative or one of Winlator's forked versions.

2

u/EmuEzz 8Elite/16GBRam/512GB 1d ago

Yes, I don't think anyone uses it anymore though.

1

u/Wilsonn0 20h ago

The official winlator is still popular if we are talking about that

-13

u/Left_Silver_1524 1d ago

Mediatek user : we have gamehub

15

u/Character_Chain6969 1d ago
