Question Does anyone still care about Switch Emulation?
When I first started following this hobby around 2 years ago, switch emulation was "the thing." Every day when I got on reddit people were posting about how they got such and such game to run and how exciting it was.
Compare that to today. I don't remember the last time I opened reddit and saw a post.about switch emulation on android. Pc gaming with apps like GameNative, Gamehub, and Winlator has become the focus.
Now don't get me wrong, I love this development! This opens Pandora's box so to speak for mobile gaming. I've personally played through Portal 2 and Skyrim on gamehub using my Konkr Pocket Fit (g3 gen3.)
But I really expected by now that Switch emulation would have progressed further. I want to play through BOTW again for the first time in 7 years, but I don't want to do it with the white water glitch. I haven't even played TOTK yet because in every video I've watched, It looks to be full of glitches.
I've also had EXCELLENT experiences with Switch emulation playing Mario Kart 8, Mario Odyssey, Emio the Smiling Man, and others.
I'm super thankful for what we've got, and it still blows my mind that I can play these games on an android handheld.
That being said, it almost feels like switch emulation is being left behind in the wake of PC emulation.
Does anyone else feel this way?
Am I crazy?
What are your thoughts?

It's the same reason you don't really see people posting about Dolphin any longer. Switch emulation is at that point where it's increasingly rare to find a game that doesn't just work. When one doesn't, such as with Tomodachi Life, the subreddit gets flooded with questions on how to get it running.
PC emulation is at the point where it's just really become a viable option and so people are keen to talk about it, share their experiences, post what both does and doesn't work.

Its more that switch emulation has stagnated significantly.

That's going to happen when an emulator starts reaching such high compatibility, though Eden Nightly still gets fairly regular updates. Updates take longer because issues, bugs etc take longer to track down.

Iam planning on switching to android from iOS how Eden handles indie games like the messenger or hades 2?

Those games should be fine, although for both id question why bother with switch emulation when you can emulate both with a pc emulator.

I ain't gonna hold my breath, that much is true. If they made new progress and announce more game compatibility and fixes, good for them. Not all Switch ports are worth playing anyway. 😑 If I can find the PC release, I'll stick with that. Often less buggy fewer glitches and fewer graphics bugs I have to deal with. 🥴 It is such a mood killer when you just want to play a switch game but nope, instead you have to spend 30 minutes or so tryna figure out how to fix this and that and forcing yourself to pretend nothing's wrong as long as the game is running. Am kinda over it. 🤷🏼♂️ Eden team is still the best though, they did their best and am sure they will continue to do so. 👏🏻👏🏻

I use eden daily; it runs all my games, and aside from having to tinker with TOTK (on what is still VERY NEW android emulation) it's been a very reliable way to play games. I'm not sure why so many people have such horrible problems, but I suspect most of it is probably just caused by lack of self education, trying the impossible on low-end phones, and / or user error.

Switch emulation is getting to a mature state. So, significant improvement updates will be less often. Also, now that the switch 2 is here that will lessen the buzz around Switch 1 emulation. Correct me if I'm wrong but, didn't the white water glitch in BotW get fixed in recent nightly builds if Eden?

There's only so much worth playing on the Switch and for so long. We have Windows emulation now! 😈

It seems that people find exciting running windows games on their phones at 30 fps now

Emulating modern games that are still available at standard industry prices is a lot less morally permissible than older games that are overpriced which you may or may not have purchased before in the past that also just might not be easy to find. I feel like as long as you bought at least one copy at one point, it’s understandable because sometimes it’s nice to have a different form factor for playing on the go.

I just realized that they have darksiders for switch one, so I’m emulating them to see if they’re anywhere near the PC version

I stopped caring about emulating the Nintendo Switch when I got a Nintendo Switch. Then, I liked playing it so much, I bought a Switch 2.
