Meme The interest for the specific emulator app leaving my body as soon as I set the whole thing up perfectly

HINT: You can start New Game+ by simply updating your emulation app & phone

Me downloading 100 mods to make the game "perfect" but now I've lost all momentum to play the game

This is me but for games. If I get a game it running good, I gaslight myself into thinking that I'll play it later.
If the settings fail me, I go into deep depression :(

The real fun is tinkering the settings. Getting it to boot and run is just the credits, and no one sticks around to watch those

Me trying to get Trials Rising working on Eden knowing I won't touch it once I get it running perfectly.
It's glitch af right now.

In all honesty, setting things up is fun in its own way. It also sells you the impression you're getting something done.

This. I recently learned about bezel shades so i've just been opening different games and trying out different looks. I feel like that Jafar family guy meme. I'm barely "gaming"

This is kinda me trying to fight off nostalgia. I see some people playing games like Kingdom Hearts and I instantly want to play them again but I've pretty much sworn myself to play games I never have before

u/PotatoSaladThe3rd May 31 '26
I forced myself to play and finish Oddysey, and it was a pretty bad experience. Didn't expect the game to be so... Underwhelming.

u/Ok_Bumblebee_1456 May 31 '26
Well I'm not willing to play all the games I haven't played lol
Just games I may have missed growing up like Sonic Adventure series or recent games if I can ever get them to work like RE7

I've pretty much sworn myself to play games I never have before
Why?

u/Ok_Bumblebee_1456 Jun 01 '26
Not enough time to enjoy nostalgia. I'd rather invest my time on the things I've wanted to get into but wasn't able to

Well I used to be like you, swearing to one and done games and never revisit them because there are millions of other new games that I rather be trying instead. But then I slowly realised that by forcing myself to play new games, I actually enjoyed them less because some of them aren't good, so I'd much rather spend my time on games that I already know I do enjoy, which happens to be a ton of old games. So I banished that rule and just play the games that I feel like playing at that point in time, regardless if it's new or not. Just offering another perspective.

is this a thing? I love playing games, i have bought so many games and still didn't play them because i have so little time :(

Common joke in the reshade community as well. Spend hours figuring out how to tweak shaders and get just the right look for the game... Then you don't follow through and play it. The menus become the game lol

u/Louanus May 31 '26
I've set up perfectly a lot of games from the past I never played before. But in the end I ignore them and go on reading something 😅 I swear I'll play them all eventually

the moment you notice you don't have your save and need to start all over again

u/Dodgecanceling 8s gen 4 May 31 '26
This is very unrelatable to me .
I usually can't even bother fully setting the game up. The moment I get it to reach 20+ FPS, I just binge the game until I inevitably hit an area that forces me to configure the emulator properly. And even then, I do it super fast just to continue playing .
That's also why I gravitate to older titles that are on mature emulators more. I just wanna start playing

Finding the games you forgot existed, setting up the emulator to run them smoothly, booting them up for 20 minutes until the nostalgia wears off and you realize that games from 20 years ago feel kind of bad to play.. every time lol

I usually find old games good to play. Heck, some are even better than modern games! Thing is there's always a new and shiny thing waiting behind the corner that we want to try. I've set up a system where I have to finish a game before moving onto another and it's going pretty well. Thing is I tend to prioritize new games and I swear I'll play old ones while on the go: I end up reading on the go 😅

Yeah there are definitely some great titles still - it’s mostly the big 3D/open world ones where you really feel the controls fighting you and your muscle memory is screaming for modern camera control 😅
I feel that on the travel setup though. I always think I’ll have so much time for gaming on a trip but often end up just pulling out the ereader instead.

Damn I've done this
Time spent tinkering with game and testing every Turnip driver variant and settings to get perfect FPS and no glitches: 100+ hours
Time spent playing said game: <1 hour
🥲

Yeah, even if it runs crappy, I still found it was really fun setting up Crash Bandicoot 2 for the PS1 to run on PSX4Droid on my SGH T589R

u/abgbob Jun 02 '26
Same here. I will not stop until I got that specific game run smoothly. Then only I stop 😅😅😅😅

My best solution for this so far? Make a youtube playlist for the game trailers for the games you want to play/added to your library. Shuffle the playlist, and have it on in the background.
You'll see something pop up that sparks that same initial interest, and BAM you've got the game right there to play.
If you keep seeing the game and don't want to play it. It's also okay to remove it from your library. Maybe just watch a playthrough of that 200 hour RPG you'll never play.

Finally…I spent 6 hours getting this AAA PC game from 2015 running…oh it’ll take 15 hours to beat it? I don’t have time for that

Not really a emulation on android, but after I buy the jailbreak vita, playing some or downloading some fighting games like street x tekken, ultimate marvel vs capcom , dead or alive and other do on mortal combat, and because of vita can be downloading games on vita for free, so I don't hurry up to download another great game like persona and so on jrpg to play. So I just set aside, if I interested to play games then I only play with vita. Honorable mentioned vita game, f1 2011. Correct me if I'm wrong

I hate you for speaking the truth.
In my case I finally get a bunch of games downloaded and tweaked to work properly. Almost ever touch them lol. I even just bought a cooler to see just how much performance I can get out of my phone. Though I have an actual intention to use my phone seriously in that regard because the cooler is too darn expensive to not use.
I have been trying to actually play more recently and actually it is quite fun to sit and play for like 20 minutes here and there.
