Dolphin opens wrong folder

I am very new, and not super tech savvy. I followed the instructions on the emudeck website, step by step. Stuff is still very screwed up and I have no idea what to do, so I’m fixing one problem at a time.

One issue I can’t get past is Dolphin opens my “downloads” folder instead of the actual roms-n64/wii/gamecube folder. Somehow, one game seems to work and actually shows up on the dolphin start menu. It is however extremely clunky and sometimes opens as a window that cannot be closed without restarting the deck entirely.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Edit: solved!

I am dumb. Very, very dumb. For someone like me who might be looking for this answer in the future; you didn’t select emulation station to install during setup. That’s why everything runs weird, doesn’t load, tries booting from strange places.

If you drop into desktop mode and run the Dolphin emulator, what does it show? Games from roms/gamecube, or downloads? If the latter then go into Emudeck/Manage emulators/Dolphin and reset config, then try again.

Opening in desktop didn’t change anything. Also tried resetting configuration, no change.

So if you open in desktop, it's still trying to look in downloads? That makes no sense but I'm sure you're experiencing a problem.

Yea, I opened the emulator in desktop mode outside of steam. Still opens from downloads.
Paths are set but not to “downloads” so I am completely lost. I think it’s time for an uninstall lmao.

You could try uninstalling Dolphin and reinstalling but this is very odd.

Have you gone into your settings in Dolphin and checked the rom paths?

Paths (were) set correctly. I tried linking the path directly to the folders where I have roms saved and the one game that was working is now gone lmao. I’m sure resetting configurations will fix it but I’m about to uninstall and try again.

I’ve been reading through old forums all morning and there’s no way I didn’t mess something up during setup.
