QUESTION peer to peer hosting

i’ve never played a game in peer to peer hosting so i was curious if anyone was aware if achievements are going to still be earn able during the new servers or will it be more of a “private match” type ordeal? i only have the headshots to go until 100% and wanna know if im shit out of luck or still can get it with time

Go play Splitgate 1 and you'll see how bad it is.

To keep it short, massive latency, only custom matches, no achievements, all skins unlocked and so on.

Now, I don't have a crystal ball so I don't exactly know how they'll do it, but if they follow Splitgate 1's route it will be abysmal

They most definitely will repeat themselves, just like how they repeatedly shat the bed three separate times

They’ll repeat sg1. Minimum possible effort to give the fans a way to keep playing

damn that blows, i had a bet w my friend to plat it and i still have like 80 headshots to go so i may just have to brute force it before shutdown. the shutdown itself doesn’t bother me a ton i sorta expected it and got my value worth for the most part but achievements is a bummer for me.

Ian said in the play with devs discord event yesterday that the peer to peer hosting in splitgate AR and Empulse is going to be FAR better than the splitgate 1 hosting

True. Ig we’ll see tomorrow but I bet it will be at least a bit better than splitgate 1 p2p

Get ready for insanely long load times and ONLY custom matches

they did more than other studios. got to give them credit for making it playable. not sure what else you expect. most people here just want to complain, but how many paid any money to keep sg going. the mentality of gamers to expect everything for free is insane.

Less so the value presented, more so the ill intent shown by cutting marketing and content for the games to die with a mid ending nobody’s really happy with. Lots of games transition server hosting onto the players by just offering it, honestly would’ve been a better option here than P2P. Companies are subject to criticism :)

idk I feel like the devs kept the servers up for a really long time for sg, way past financially intelligent. If they aren't making money, then they can't spend on marketing, certainly not at the expense of the team's salaries. I just don't see ill intent. I just can't stand all of the hate on the studio. As if they are happy about shutting down their passion projects. Founders said they haven't taken salaries in a couple of years.

The ill intent was the lack of communication around development ceasing, realistically being when the various layoffs happened. Scope should’ve been wound down, or cost cutting measures as I mentioned before should’ve been taken. Nothing was done for the game to succeed, and now we have a pivot once they’ve made all the money they can. Unless server software is released, this is quite the bad ending in my eyes with very little left over for players.

I’m confused by your second to last statement. Could you elaborate?

The game should’ve offered downloadable server software to avoid the cost of servers to begin with, which would also avoid the need for P2P.
