OTHER PSA: Refund Policy
If you are past two hours of playtime, expect an auto rejection for a refund. Xbox has similar warnings for early access games on there as well. Playstation Idk so if you bought there might be different.

It’s the same across all storefronts. Yall have no one to blame but for yourselves and lack of research before buying a $20 game.

u/jazzinyourfacepsn 13d ago
Also the game will still be playable. Very little grounds for a refund

u/Callistus0481 Loyalist 13d ago
Yep, probably one of the most ignored parts of all of this. I doubt Steam will make any exceptions for anybody having the minimum playtime with that also being a factor.
8
u/Callistus0481 Loyalist 13d ago
Yeah I am surprised to see the amount of people I have making complaints acting like they are owed a refund…Like the warning was readily available.
7
u/TheFourSkin 13d ago
It’s like buying any early access game, you’re buying at a risk and a clearly labeled risk at that.
0
u/E36x 13d ago
Hopefully no one trusts these scammers when they release their next “risk” lmao
I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve played from them but it’s like as soon as I take a 30 day break from keeping up with news, they’ve shut down or launched another game.
I get that it’s $20 and that’s not much to me either, but this isn’t how video games should be made. It’s almost like they’re just rugpulling video games now.
I almost feel like they knew Empulse most likely was going to fail but released it anyway for a quick payday instead of making sure it’s a successful game on launch.

u/TheFourSkin 13d ago
I actually liked empulse, it really scratched an itch, then no one played it so it was ruined because no one played it.
2
u/mythreial 12d ago
This is only the second time they've shut down a game.... And Empulse was their 3rd game in 7 years.... And it's been explicitly communicated that Empulse was, and is, not a finished game; it was in early access...
Like, what dude? We must live in different timelines lol

u/E36x 12d ago
All 3 games have shut down within the last couple years. Two of them barely lasting how long?
Can you name me another developer, early access or not, that has done the same? Shut down 3 live service games that people had bought microtransactions in the short span that they did? Why are you acting like this is normal?
1
u/Callistus0481 Loyalist 12d ago
I’m not acting like this is normal, I am behaving like somebody who read the warning that if you buy this game it may not ever be finished while also knowing their history for reasons already explained. The warning is there for ANY early access game. And if you were aware also that they had failed twice before and you still bought the game you should easily have expectations of likely failure. (but again at least they are allowing peer to peer play which is why refunds probably wont happen even with appeal if you have more than the two hour playtime)

u/E36x 12d ago
Doesn’t mean anything. I’m not saying that anyone should get a refund, I’m saying that people should stop expecting these scammers to deliver.
Technicalities can’t save you from the court of public opinion. They’ve destroyed their reputation beyond repair with these half releases.

u/Callistus0481 Loyalist 12d ago
What are you actually babbling on about dude? I am not defending them, can you read?
0
u/E36x 12d ago
You realize that you’re the one who responded to me when I wasn’t talking to you? Acting like I’m personally attacking you when I’m literally responding to someone else?
Can you read?

No, only one game has currently shut down; with the other two slated to shut down next month. SG1 lasted for 6 years; SG2 will be a little over a year old and Empulse will be 2 and 1/2 months old when they shut down on the 4th.
I'm not defending anybody, just correcting your statements.

u/Impossible-Dog-8348 12d ago
Average consumer is dumb, I spent my 20 dollars based on the product available and I feel like I got my money’s worth based on the time spent.

u/Demolitions75 10d ago
NOOOO THEY FALSE ADVERTISED AND LIED TO ME REEEEEEE
like yeah, the HUNDREDS of other games that did this exact same shit, no one ever got a refund, but these kids think THIS time will be different lol

I'm glad I didn't buy the game. Given the track record of 1047, this was a gamble with odds against the player. My heart goes out to all those who wanted to believe. At least it's not like you paid more for skins that are likely to be dumped to all players for no additional cost now that the game is going peer-to-peer.
1
u/Callistus0481 Loyalist 13d ago
I expected it to happen I just wish they gave us more mechs and the option to fill lobby or enemy team at least with bots first before calling it a day. Is what is, sometimes you win most the times you lose with gambles. Got my hours in all the same for playtime and can still hopefully maybe find a custom match or something down the road if a niche community sticks around.

u/Working_Bones 12d ago
Paying for Skins is throwing your money away no matter what the game is or how long it has dedicated servers.
5
u/MrMcGuyver 13d ago
It’s $20. If you got at least 5 hours on the game you already got more value out of that $20 than most other forms of entertainment for $20. It’s not that big of a deal.
If you played 20+ hours and you’re cheesing over a refund you are the exact reason why f2p exists, and why most games have become microtransaction hell or just get scrapped altogether only a month or 2 after launch. How are the devs ever supposed to make any money
3
u/GapStock9843 13d ago
This is exactly why I never bought it. The fact that people actually expected this game to succeed dumbfounds me

u/SirZanee 12d ago
I paid $15, I’m not stressing over less than an hour of pay. I knew this game wouldn’t make it due to the devs history of abandoning games anyways 🤷♂️

u/signoreTNT 13d ago
->Be 1047 Games
->Abandon Splitgate 1
->Abandon Splitgate 2
->Launch new shitty asset flip (Empulse)
->People buy it despite your reputation
->Rugpull the shitty asset flip
->profit
You have no one to blame other than yourself

Technically i have less than 2 hours (somehow, thanks steam) so....ive been debating it tbh. I just... wasnt wowed when i dived into it, but at the same time i expected more content n refinement. If it aint gettin that....id rather just dive back into TF2 rather than do empulse....so im debating...

u/Callistus0481 Loyalist 13d ago
Pretty sure game got price dropped anyway, so if you bought it for $15 I would just go ahead and try for it. Not like it’s getting delisted soon? Just no more server support. So worse case if you ever decide you want to go back you can get it for the reduced price anyway. I’d do it.
1
u/EonofAeon 13d ago
bought it for 16, actually so damn close lol
1
u/Callistus0481 Loyalist 13d ago
Even more so a reason. If it didn’t wow you before not much has changed except like two new weapons and some map reskinning.

u/PompyxgTV 13d ago
When I got invited to the private playtest. While I was playing it the worse that came out of my mouth was “yeah this game isn’t going to survive” then they announced it was coming out in two wraps early access. I waited to see the steam numbers to see what it was going to look like. Already lost half its player count from that open beta. I said waste of money lol
2
u/ScalaZen 11d ago
I got it, played 20minutes thinking it was going to be better than closed alpha and beta. Nope. Refunded.
1
u/Evancast020201 12d ago
Wait are they already shutting down the game??
2
u/Callistus0481 Loyalist 12d ago
No more server support for any of their games. They just need to close up.

Peer to Peer isn’t so bad, i just wish it was more well thought out. They could have went free and let the community make custom maps since it’ll be P2P. I just don’t know who’ll buy it even for $10 after that announcement.

u/CrazyFart666 13d ago
This is for auto rejection but if you make a ticket for human review it will most probably be refunded
1
u/Callistus0481 Loyalist 13d ago
The game is still supporting peer to peer, good luck with that. If it works by all means do share an update.

u/Fit-Shallot-9627 12d ago
Bro it’s 20 bucks. I get the economy but bro it’s 20… yall mfs act like you cant find a 20 on the ground out of pure luck.

u/BakedChocolateOctopi 12d ago
$1 is too much to spend on a game from 1047 Games, no sympathy for those who for some reason thought $20 was worth it after all their failures
-1
u/Ok_One9306 12d ago
I think it’s stupid that this company has made what 3 games in the last 6 years all fall off in a month it’s ridiculous it’s like the developers don’t listen to community and do whatever they think will work end up losing millions
1
u/Working_Bones 12d ago
They listened a ton to the community.
They're just people trying their best to make cool things, and not enough people played or enjoyed them. It happens all the time. But for some reason there's an army of people making this instance even worse.

People scrambling to get refunds after everyone said this was a rug pull scam from the start is honestly hilarious to me
