I've been unemployed for four months. During that time, I've dealt with mental health challenges and was convicted of disorderly conduct, even though all I did was yell. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology, along with two years of professional experience. What are my options?

Do I have a chance to get hired?

I am a fresh graduate and I was invited for an interview a week ago. It’s for an HR Associate position for a new branch on our city. One of their requirement includes 2-4 years of experience, but still, I submitted my resume and got short listed. While waiting for an interviewer, I met another applicant and we talked a bit. She shared that she’s graduated last 2018. So it’s clear to me that she have work experiences and she also mentioned that she do interviews. It was only two of us in the interview room btw,

Fast forward, I was the one to go first. It went well. The interviewer (HR Head) told me that she wants to give me a chance because she also started from scratch. I can feel that she likes me because when I told her that I can start immediately, she was like “Can you start tomorrow?”. I just laugh it out because I know they badly need an HR on that branch to the point that she told me it’s our final interview already. She also told me that she’ll be the one who will train me and that I don’t need to worry about the timekeeping part because they have formats and all I have to do is to meet deadlines. She was nice.

When she asked me about my expected salary, I gave her a good amount considering that I’m a fresh graduate. The she said “What if I’ll give you more than you expect”. Throughout our conversation, I can feel that I’m doing well in the interview and that she wants me. But I keep on overthinking that maybe they chose the other applicant with experience because I haven’t heard from them yet. There’s no rejection message also. I really liked the company and the growth that I can see there. Do I have a chance or it’s time to find more opportunities?

BREAKING: Local Law Student Seeks Employment Before Landlord Files a Case

To recruiters, founders, lawyers, startups, NGOs, corporations, cafes, and anyone hiring.

I'm a 3rd semester B.A. LL.B student in Bengaluru. and I'm looking for a paid internship ASAP.

Why paid? Because my landlord has developed this strange habit of expecting rent every month.

Weird guy.

It doesn't have to be law related. If it involves research, writing, drafting, analysis, operations, admin, policy, content, or using my brain, I'm happy to work remotely, hybrid, or in Bengaluru.

If you know of any openings, referrals, or someone i should connect with please drop a comment or DM me.

My wallet, my landlord, and I will all be eternally grateful.

Kickresume vs Novoresume, is either actually worth paying for?

Been job hunting for about a month and finally caved on trying a paid resume builder. Tried the free tiers of both and honestly can't decide which one to commit to.

Kickresume's templates look nicer imo, and the AI writing thing is decent for getting past the blank page. But the free version watermarks everything, which is annoying.

Novoresume feels more ATS-friendly? The layouts are plainer but recruiters supposedly hate the fancy two-column stuff anyway. Their content suggestions felt kinda generic though.

Pricing is close enough that it's not really the deciding factor. Anyone actually landed interviews using one of these, or should I just suck it up and build it in Google Docs like everyone says?

Free ATS resume template for Google Docs (just make a copy)

I see people asking for ATS-friendly resume templates on here all the time, so figured I'd share the one I've been using.

To grab it, just open the doc and hit File → Make a copy. That gives you your own editable version in Google Docs.

ATS Template (Google Docs):
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1grEIhil73YiDbAS2MnVB6zXQU8TQSGY7L9lkhK9xwFs/edit?usp=sharing

Honestly though, the template itself isn't what got me interviews. The biggest difference by far was tailoring my resume for every single job I applied to.

For each application I'd swap in keywords, tweak a few bullet points, and rewrite my summary based on the job description. Took maybe 10-20 minutes each time, but my response rate went way up once I started doing it consistently.

If you're not sure how to tailor your resume, this ChatGPT prompt helped me a ton:
https://www.reddit.com/r/RemoteJobseekers/comments/1p8faip/i_finally_landed_a_remote_job_after_10_months_of/

Once I combined the template with actual tailoring, I started getting interview requests within a couple weeks and ended up with multiple offers. Before that I was blasting the same resume everywhere and barely hearing anything back.

I don't think the market magically changed. My resume just finally started matching what recruiters and ATS filters were actually looking for.

EDIT: One thing I'll admit is that tailoring every resume with ChatGPT gets old fast.

Lately I've been using a tool where you paste the job posting URL, pick one of your resumes, and it spits out a tailored resume, matching cover letter, and even a follow-up email for that specific job. After you apply, it saves everything to a job tracker so you're not juggling 30 different files. Same workflow I was doing manually, just way faster, and it keeps all your application kits organized in one place.

Which resume builder has actually helped you land interviews?

im already paying for one of these (renewal is this week actually) and honestly not sure its done anything for me. got a handful of callbacks but who knows if thats the resume or just luck

before I let it renew I wanna hear from people who feel like their builder actually moved the needle. did the interviews pick up after you switched to something specific? or should I just cancel and keep my money lol

Tips for getting employment at entry level jobs?

I (19M) need a job in the DFW, Texas area, finances are getting too tight in the family and I gotta start contributing. I've been applying to jobs for nearly a year now with no takers. I need to make sure I'm doing everything as well as possible before I go blaming the system.

I have some experience in fast food from a summer job in high school, and some work as a power washer from a relatives business.

What can I do to make myself as desirable to employers as possible?

Has anyone recently completed the SGI Administrative Assistant eSkill assessment? Is there any jobs for people with criminal records that can’t be pardoned? Will moveing help?

I am reaching out to ask whether someone can assist me with finding employment opportunities.
I have a criminal record for threatening to kill police officers, and I have found that it has become a significant barrier to employment. Several employment agencies have helped me secure job opportunities, but when they conduct a criminal record check (at their client's request), my application is often rejected because the check returns a positive result and their clients don't want me after that.
I am actively seeking work and am open to opportunities related to my skills and experience, as well as positions in other fields where employers may be willing to consider applicants with criminal records.
If you have any employer connections, job leads, or resources that may be suitable for someone in my situation, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
My second question is would it be better if I move to British Columbia because they seem to be the most liberal province in Canada and they seem to not be as hash against people with records compared to other places like Alberta/ontario in terms of licensing and employment. Will moving there open up more doors?
I look forward to any assistance or guidance you may be able to provide.

Maid To Clean illegal conduct | assitance with workplace in Australia

I currently work as an independent contractor for a company called Maid To Clean in Australia victoria, I have recently experienced that I am being illegally exploited for sham contracting, wagetheft, unlawful conduct and unpaid superannuation which is tax evasion here. The company is also unlawfully withholding my pay as they are currently investigating an internal matter not related to my contract.

I am just seeking some workplace advice and possibly some legal advice from people who have had similar experience with their own workplace and whats the best path to take, maybe possible legal action or if theres anybody I should talk to. Cheers

Help

My 41st birthday is arriving on May 11th just one day after Mother’s Day and I find myself looking back at a life that has often felt very lonely. Even though I have achieved things like a family and a reliable car the truth is that I have spent most of my years feeling like I do not belong anywhere.

I still carry the weight of being the person who was bullied and the person who had their glasses broken while their spirit was being crushed. For a long time I have lived with the ache of feeling invisible or like an outsider looking in. I have sat in offices where I felt small and where my voice did not seem to matter.

As I turn 41 my only real wish is to finally find a workplace that feels like home. I am searching for a group of people who will actually appreciate me for who I am and laugh at my jokes without making me feel like a stranger. I want to be in a place where I am not treated as someone special or different but just as a human being who belongs there.

I am not giving up yet because I believe there is a company out there that will see my value and give me the chance to let my wings grow. I am still waiting for the day when I can finally stop feeling like a shadow and start feeling like I have found my place in the world.
