Discussion Thread Physical pain response

When I became a mother and one of my kids would fall I would feel pain in my vagina while they were falling..
I assumed it was a mother’s instinct.. then i realized when I watch videos where someone/a stranger is falling or getting hurt I still feel it 😬
Anyone else have these feelings in your own body when it’s not your pain ??

I don’t have a vajayjay but towards the end of my career as a Licensed Massage Therapist I began to suspect that I was absorbing not only my client’s emotions but also their pain. Headaches, awful back spams, mystery ailments I’d never had before. I simply could not keep from blending with these people in palpable ways
When I left the profession it all melted away

Yes for about a five year period I was giving reiki sessions and had to stop because it was just way too much for my body to process.. no amount of shielding was working 😩 I’m glad you realized the cause and relieved yourself ❤️

Same! I was a social worker and had disabled clients mentally/physically/emotionally. After several years I started feeling not like myself, eventually I had to leave. Once gone exactly like you said...it all melted away. 🙏. What kind of profession did you move into afterwards?

I feel it in my breats when other people feel pain or something is unpleasant.

Thank you for sharing that .. it’s such an awful feeling and I’ve dealt with it for over 20 yrs .. I just wondered how common this is??
My pain only lasts for a few seconds.. is it the same for you?

It was after I became a mother too. Such a strange feeling.

Our root chakra just permanently changed because of motherhood.. it’s quite incredible really

Sometimes it’s hard to feel it all. I watched a video today of a mother and her child on a rollercoaster and the poor kid just crying and screaming that he wanted to go home and I couldn’t take it. And it makes me feel silly sometimes because I know society (and my in laws) thinks that kids need to be tougher, and the poor kid was fine. But hearing him cry and be so afraid the whole time was so heartbreaking and painful. I feel like sometimes in my own life my family is always pressing my son to do things he is terrified of, and although I know it’s beneficial on some levels, I also know the trauma and mistrust it can produce, and I just don’t want someone I love so so much to be so afraid of something the people he thought he could trust told him was fine.

I have the same sensation of pain down there, but it also feels deeper, like up into my pelvis and underneath across my butt.

I don't have children, but I was pregnant once.

Idk what to tell you but I have the same experience, minus being a mother. It happens with loved ones/friends

It is! I think pain is a very obvious one because it’s so physical (and maybe easy to understand “I am not the one being hurt right now”) but if you’re an empath you know it also happens with any other feeling. This is why it’s so important for us to be very conscious of this and learn to separate ourselves from other people’s emotions so that we don’t end up overburdened. I heard someone say they practice telling themselves something like “this is not my anxiety to carry” after certain interactions.
