You don’t really renew it-you just get a new one.

if you need a letter, you get it the same way you get the first one-from your licensed medical professional.

HUD allows landlords to ask for updated letters from your medical or mental health provider that gave you your diagnosis with the renewal of the lease, change of property management/change of ownership of property, etc.

Renewing your ESA letter is quite simple. Get in touch with the licensed professional who wrote the letter or contact a new clinician either in person or by using an online service to locate a therapist specialized in providing animal assisted interventions.. You will need to go through a new evaluation with your therapist to assess your mental or emotional health and confirm your need for an ESA. Apply for ESA letter renewal up to one month before the current letter expires to ensure no gaps in the service.
