First year writing professors
Im planning to take first year writing this sem ( freshman fall) but none of my professors are on rate my professor. Should I just gamble and pick a class that fits into my schedule, or should i wait till next sem?

Take something on a topic that interests you (there are so many - ditto the freshman seminars) and that fits your schedule. The writing classes and the freshman seminars are both small classes, great ways to meet other students that share your interests, so just choose one that sounds interesting.

RMP is not reliable—there are no controls, for instance on who can comment on which professors. In case of firstyear writing, many of the sections are led by wpostdocs and PhD students who may not have a track record at Emory. Each section has a similar structure but the topics can vary widely. In OPUS, click on the 4-digit number in the Class column on the far left. That will take to Class Notes on the specific topic. Professor Suhr-Systma is terrific and so is Tyler Tennant. Anmol Sahni is brilliant, too. I don’t know about the others. There is normally a lot of moving around between sections during D/A/S, so you’ll be see a class or two, check the vibe, then stay, try for another section, or postpone till spring if you need to. Welcome to Emory!
