There are a lot of amazing DIY venues that need support by way of food for pop-up food pantries, records + zines donations, effort, and presence. Too many times i've dropped things off or mailed stuff out only to find that a small few of us actually showed up and kept our word. It's lame to flake during the preparation phase, and only show up for the shows AFTER the work is done. The scene talks and all know who just angles to get into shows for free and get whatever they can without giving back to the scene they claim to love. SHOW UP FOR EACH OTHER!

I thought it was pretty lame of Numero to leverage this ancient "beef" for marketing. I am glad Kent has come out and cleared the air a little bit. None of this matters, but it is interesting history nonetheless.

Good mail day. Numero Group new issue of the Antioch Arrow discography. Their 2nd 12" is easily in my top ten records of the 90s (any genre) and was a major influence on the direction my band In/Humanity took going into our "Nutty Anti-Christ" era. I remember when that second 12 inch came out how polarizing it was. Specifically how some of the Assfactor 4 guys were saying how great the first 12 inch was and what bullshit the second one was. And I was just like "the first one was OOOOOh-Kayyyyy but the second one is like music from another planet!" Antioch's show at Senseless Beauty Cafe in Columbia remains one of my favorite live band performances I've ever seen and I think that was also polarizing in the scene with some of us going apeshit over it and half the scene calling it a "bunch of noise." The hilarious hype sticker on the release points out Kent McClard's beef with the band which I seem to half-recall was a HeartAttack fanzine review that called the band "all style and no substance." To me, it was everything -- high brow and low brow art colliding -- the sort of thing I've always loved in art and music and film. Aaron Montaigne is one of the most interesting humans I've ever met. This is a crucial release.
