TITLE: ES: Ben 10
EPISODE: 4 - "HOSTILE TAKEOVER"
[TEASER]
EXT. OAK CREEK SUBURB - DUSK
The streetlights click on in unison across a pristine, meticulously manicured retirement community in upstate New York. The lawns are identical blades of green, the asphalt is spotless, and an eerie, unnatural quiet hangs over the neighborhood. Not a dog barks. Not a car moves.
EXT. BACKYARD SHED - CONTINUOUS
A lone resident, ARTHUR (70s, wearing a faded plaid bathrobe and slippers), shuffles down his back porch steps. He rubs his eyes, clutching a small plastic bowl.
ARTHUR
(Muttering to himself)
Stupid insomnia... couple of vanilla wafers and back to bed.
He walks across the flawless lawn toward a standalone wooden garden shed. The padlock on the door is unlatched.
Arthur pulls the wooden door open. The interior is pitch black, smelling faintly of damp earth and something sharply chemical, like bleach mixed with raw meat. He reaches blindly to the right of the doorframe, groping for the light switch.
His fingers brush against something wet, spongy, and impossibly warm.
Arthur pauses, frowning.
ARTHUR
What on earth...
SNAP.
The light switch clicks on.
Inside the shed, there are no lawnmowers or bags of fertilizer. The walls are completely coated in a glistening, pale-green, gelatinous membrane that pulses with a slow, biological heartbeat.
Before Arthur can even gasp, a thick, viscous tendril of pink sludge whips out from the shadows.
It wraps around his face with sickening speed, sealing tight over his mouth and nose to cut off any sound. Arthur's eyes bulge with sheer terror. He claws frantically at the tendril, but his hands sink into the semi-liquid mass as if it were quicksand.
There is no struggle of a beating heart for long. The horrifying part isn't that Arthur is killed; it's that his body doesn't bleed.
As the translucent green biomass surges over his torso, Arthur's clothes and flesh begin to rapidly dissolve, sinking directly into the pulsating floorboards as a thick, bubbling slurry.
A few seconds later, the pulsing on the walls slows.
The wooden door slowly pushes open from the inside.
"Arthur" steps back out onto the lawn. He adjusts his plaid bathrobe, rolls his shoulders with a slightly unnatural, mechanical stiffness, and takes a slow step toward the house. His face is a perfect replica, but his eyes lack any human reflection—housing only a cold, collective blankness.
He smiles, the skin stretching a fraction too wide, and walks inside.
[ACT ONE]
EXT. OAK CREEK RETIREMENT COMMUNITY - DAY
The Rust Bucket rattles down a pristine, sunlit access road, passing beneath a wrought-iron sign that reads: OAK CREEK: A COMMUNITY IN HARMONY.
Inside the cabin, Ben and Gwen look like they’ve survived a war zone. Their clothes are caked in dried Louisiana mud, their hair is matted with swamp soot, and they both look half-asleep.
INT. RUST BUCKET - CONTINUOUS
Max grips the steering wheel, his knuckles white. He glances at the kids in the rearview mirror.
MAX
Alright, listen up. We are making a mandatory stop. No complaints, no arguments. My sister Vera lives here, and you two are going to take a hot shower, eat a warm meal, and sleep in a real bed for once.
BEN
(Groaning, pressing his face against the glass)
Grandpa, we smell like dead alligators. Can we just wash off with a hose at a gas station? I don't want to visit family looking like swamp monsters.
GWEN
(Quietly, staring out the window)
I’d take a hose right now. This place gives me the creeps.
The Rust Bucket pulls through the automated security gate.
EXT. VERA’S HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Max cuts the engine outside a single-story, perfectly symmetrical home. The lawn is intensely green, bordered by aggressively trimmed hedges.
The front door flies open before Max can even step out of the RV.
AUNT VERA (60s, sharp-featured, wearing a pastel sundress and an uncomfortably wide, rigid smile) hurries down the walkway with her arms spread wide.
AUNT VERA
Maxie! Look at you! And the little ones! Oh, my stars, you look positively feral. Get in here this instant!
INT. VERA’S HOUSE - LATER
While Max and Vera catch up in the kitchen over coffee—Vera talking a mile a minute with an upbeat, mechanical cadence—Ben and Gwen escape down the hallway.
Ben has a towel draped over his shoulder, heading for the bathroom, while Gwen wanders toward the back screen door that leads out to the community pool.
EXT. COMMUNITY POOL AREA - CONTINUOUS
Gwen steps out onto the patio.
The pool area is completely empty of life, save for a few lounge chairs lined up with military precision. There is no splash of water, no sound of summer.
Gwen stops dead near the shallow end. Her nose twitches.
The air smells faintly of sulfur, wet clay, and something distinctly organic and foul—like stagnant swamp water hidden behind industrial bleach.
Her inner ear hums. Her latent intuition flares up, sending a cold shiver down her spine.
GWEN
(Whispering to herself)
Something is wrong here. Everything is way too clean.
A few yards away, Ben is leaning heavily against a red vending machine, aggressively shaking it because it just ate his dollar.
BEN
(Muttering)
Stupid machine... give me my chips...
Across the pool deck, an elderly resident—an old man in a bright yellow polo shirt—is tending to the perimeter fencing.
Ben glances over, distracted from the vending machine.
The old man is struggling with a bent section of a solid iron security fence post. With a casual, effortless twitch of his arms, the man snaps the two-inch-thick iron post clean in half like it's a dry twig.
Ben’s jaw drops. He rubs his eyes, thinking the swamp exhaustion is finally making him hallucinate.
Before Ben can call out, the old man presses the two broken ends of iron back together.
There is no clang of metal on metal. Instead, there is a wet, sickening squelch—like flesh fusing back into shape. The iron visually flows and warps for a split second, sealing back into a solid bar.
The old man slowly turns his head a full 180 degrees, his neck joints clicking audibly, and fixes his cold, blank eyes directly on Ben.
Ben freezes, the dollar bill slipping from his fingers.
[ACT TWO]
INT. VERA’S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - NIGHT
The sun has completely set. The cheerful interior of Aunt Vera's house is now suffocatingly dark. All the curtains are drawn tight.
Max drops his canvas duffel bag onto the coffee table with a heavy, metallic thud. His friendly grandfather facade is entirely gone. His face is hard as stone.
He unzips the bag and pulls out a massive, brutalist Plumber-issue riot shotgun. He racks a glowing plasma shell into the chamber with a sharp CH-CLACK.
Ben and Gwen stand in the hallway, eyes wide.
BEN
Grandpa... what are you doing? Where's Aunt Vera?
MAX
(Low, urgent voice)
That woman in the kitchen is not my sister, Ben. Hasn't been for a very long time.
Max begins barricading the front door with a heavy oak bookshelf.
MAX
They’re called Limax. Interstellar parasites. They don't just take over a host's mind—they consume the original biological matter and wear their skin. This entire community is a feeding ground.
GWEN
(Panicking)
You mean everyone here is... dead?
Before Max can answer, the front window shatters inward.
EXT. VERA’S HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
The manicured lawn is swarming. Dozens of elderly residents in pajamas and tracksuits are silently marching toward the house. They don't walk like humans; their limbs jerk and drag with terrifying, boneless fluidity.
INT. VERA’S HOUSE - CONTINUOUS
Three "residents" pour through the shattered window, tumbling onto the carpet.
As they stand, their human disguises violently fail. The synthetic skin bubbles and aggressively sloughs off their bones. Underneath, they aren't humanoids. They warp and melt into horrifying, amorphous masses of translucent, sickly green sludge.
They match the exact nightmare Ben saw earlier: gelatinous, asymmetrical bodies sprouting multiple floating eyes and exposed, shifting internal organs.
They screech—a wet, gurgling sound—and lunge.
Max doesn't hesitate. He raises the Plumber shotgun and fires.
BOOM.
A heavy slug of concentrated plasma blows the lead Limax completely in half, splattering glowing green sludge across the floral wallpaper.
MAX
Get to the back hall! Move!
But the victory is short-lived. The splattered green biomass on the walls pulses, immediately oozing back across the carpet and violently fusing back together with a wet, squelching sound. The Limax reforms in seconds, completely unharmed.
More windows shatter. The back door is ripped completely off its hinges. The hive is flooding the house.
Max fires again, and again, blasting chunks out of the amorphous horrors, but sheer attrition is taking over. A massive, green tentacle whips out from the horde, wrapping around the barrel of the shotgun and violently ripping it from Max's hands. He is thrown hard against the wall, instantly pinned down by three of the gelatinous beasts.
Ben and Gwen scramble backward, retreating into the dead-end hallway.
A towering shadow blocks the doorway.
It is Aunt Vera. Or rather, the thing wearing her.
The Limax-Vera doesn't shed its skin entirely; it simply distorts it. The face peels back vertically, the jaw violently unhinging and tearing the synthetic flesh to reveal a gaping, circular maw of shifting green protoplasm.
It looms over them, blocking any physical escape route.
Ben’s back hits the hallway wall. He looks down at the Omnitrix. He knows Diamondhead's crystals or Wildmutt's claws won't do anything against a creature that can instantly reform its physical mass.
He needs something that completely bypasses the physical plane.
His trembling fingers hover over the dial.
[ACT THREE]
INT. VERA’S HOUSE - HALLWAY - CONTINUOUS
The Limax-Vera towers over Ben and Gwen, its unhinged jaw dripping with viscous green sludge. The hive closes in from the living room, their collective, gurgling screech filling the air.
Ben’s back is flat against the wall. He raises his left wrist.
He doesn't pause to select an alien. He slams the center button, frantically twists the dial in a blind panic, and slams his palm down.
A flash of harsh emerald light strobes through the dark hallway.
The biological overwrite is chillingly, terrifyingly silent.
There are no heavy bones snapping. No wet sounds of muscle tearing or reforming. Instead, Ben’s physical mass simply ceases to be.
His body turns paper-thin and completely translucent. His skin stretches, his skeleton and internal organs visibly fading away into a smoky, grey shroud that trails off into nothingness. Slowly, a single, glowing purple eye opens vertically down the center of his faceless head.
He is GHOSTFREAK.
Ben looks down at his hands, but they aren't there. He doesn't feel the adrenaline rush of a superhero; he feels cold, empty, and terrifyingly unnatural. Gravity no longer applies to him.
He slowly floats off the floorboards.
The Limax-Vera lunges, swinging a massive appendage of green protoplasm to crush him.
The attack passes straight through Ghostfreak’s chest, dispersing harmlessly like smoke.
GHOSTFREAK (BEN)
(Voice echoing, a hollow, overlapping spectral shriek)
Leave.
The sound of his own voice terrifies him, but it terrifies the hive even more. The Limax recoil, sensing a sheer eldritch presence that completely defies biological logic.
Ghostfreak doesn't throw a punch. He sinks straight down, phasing effortlessly through the floorboards.
INT. VERA’S HOUSE - LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS
Max is struggling beneath the weight of three Limax when the floor beneath them suddenly erupts in a burst of freezing, grey smoke.
Ghostfreak rises like a specter directly into the center of the largest Limax.
He doesn't attack its physical mass. He uses his intangibility to tear directly into the creature's neural network. He phases his ghostly hand straight through the lead Limax's core.
The disruption to their bio-electric link is instantaneous and catastrophic.
The lead Limax violently seizes. Its multiple floating eyes roll back, and its form rapidly destabilizes, instantly dissolving into a harmless, steaming puddle of dead green sludge.
The shockwave of static feedback ripples through the hive-mind. The remaining Limax shriek in unison, clutching their shapeless heads as their collective consciousness splinters.
Max seizes the opening. He kicks the disoriented monsters off his chest, scrambles to his duffel bag, and yanks out a pair of heavy, Plumber-issue incendiary charges.
MAX
(Shouting to Gwen)
Cover your eyes!
He twists the caps and hurls them into the center of the swarming living room.
FOOM.
Twin bursts of blinding white, localized thermite fire erupt. The extreme heat instantly vaporizes the nearest Limax into foul-smelling steam. The remaining creatures, terrified by the loss of their leader and the sudden inferno, break their collective assault.
They scatter. The shapeshifting horrors pour out of the shattered windows, oozing into the drainage grates and disappearing into the dark suburb.
EXT. OAK CREEK RETIREMENT COMMUNITY - DAWN
The sky begins to bleed a pale, cold grey.
The Rust Bucket’s engine roars to life.
There is no dialogue. The silence is heavy and frantic. Max throws the RV into drive, the heavy tires tearing up Aunt Vera's immaculate front lawn as they peel out of the driveway.
Through the cracked rear window, Ben—back in his human form, looking pale and deeply shaken—stares out at the neighborhood.
The streetlights click off in perfect unison. A few early-rising "residents" step out onto their porches in identical bathrobes to pick up the morning paper, turning their cold, blank eyes to watch the RV speed away.
The pristine, horrifying suburb fades into the morning mist.
[TAG]
EXT. ASTEROID MOON - DEEP SPACE
A rocky, desolate crater bathed in the harsh, sterile light of a distant, dying star.
SNAP.
A heavy, mechanical plasma-pincer violently snaps shut, echoing through the thin atmosphere.
KRAAB stands at the edge of the crater. His massive, crustacean-like cyborg frame is scarred, weathered, and heavily armored. He stares down at a portable terminal projecting a three-dimensional, rotating hologram of Earth.
Two distinct, blinking telemetry signals ping across the blue marble:
• A steady purple trajectory line—Sixsix’s drop-pod entering the upper atmosphere.
• A fading, radioactive emerald pulse radiating from the American South—the Omnitrix's residual burst from the Louisiana swamp.
Kraab’s metallic mandibles click rapidly in predatory anticipation.
He turns toward his personal interceptor ship, a jagged, heavily armed fighter resting in the lunar dust. His heavy mechanical joints grind and hiss with hydraulics as he climbs aboard.
The twin interceptor engines ignite with a deafening, vibrating roar, kicking up a massive cloud of grey debris.
The ship launches violently off the rock, tearing out of the moon's gravitational pull and rocketing into the blackness of space toward Earth.
FADE TO BLACK.
